Root Wired Tether

Is there any way to get WIRED tether working? When I start up the app it says "Sorry, but your kernel does not have the necessary features for tethering". Is there anyway around this?

Connect usb from phone to laptop and use phones 3g connection for the laptop

Forget that and get PDAnet for your phone and computer. It works great.

I would but I want to use it with a CR48 laptop and so I can't install any drivers on the laptop. I used this app with the Droid 1 and was hoping there was a way to make it work on the Droid 2

Do you have the lasted OTA update? Maybe that's your prob

i found pdanet had alot of lag vs wireless w/ barnacle

pinging google had barnacle @ 100-250ms
pdanet had 1000ms to lost packets

i swapped back and forth several times one night and always got similar results

yikes. thankfully i haven't had that problem with PDANet. I'll give Barnacle a try too, thanks for the comparision info.

i was using the free trial version, so that may be a difference

I never had a problem with PDA. Barancle would stop working on me all the time so I switched over to PDA
