Wirefly messed up my order!

They sent it two day FedEx instead of standard shipping, so when I got home late last night, my new LG Spirit was sitting on my doorstep.

Thankfully, I don't live in a hoodlum neighborhood and no one stole it as it sat out there all day.

First impressions - this phone is much lighter and much thinner than the LG Motion.
Even after I put the battery in, it's still very light.

I called Metro PCS this AM (Late AM) and they activated the phone for me and let me keep my $30.00 plan that I got on special when I bought my LG Motion back at the end of October.

The other good news is that the rebates are no longer on the Metro web site, so I can sell my Motion for more than I had planned on.

The bad news is that the link for the Rebate form is gone, so if any has a link, please post it.

My LG Motion and my old iPhone are going up on eBay this week to help recoup the cost of the LG Spirit and after the rebate, I should come out ahead.

I noticed this phone has some enhancements, but the bad news is that you can't disable bloatware like Metro Easy WiFi. You can Stop it, but it eventually comes back on.

I'm still getting used to the Power button being on the side. I prefer it to be on top of the phone but I'll get used to it eventually.

I also forget to enter the code for the free Bluetooth earpiece, but no big deal as I just bought some nice Bluetooth headphones with phone capability, but can't wear them while driving. I might just dig up my old Motorola Bluetooth earpiece and see if it still works.

I'm still in the process of setting up everything on the phone to my liking, but I love the bigger screen - it's almost as big as the entire LG Motion phone!

This was a belated Birthday gift to myself, along with the Bluetooth headphones and a nice pocket knife. And my friends took me out last night and paid for my drinks but I only had 3 beers as I was too busy trying to charm the pants off of the ladies.

So far, I dig the phone but not the bloatware that can't be disabled, so I guess I'll just have to live with that stupid EasyWiFi app. until I find a way to remove it.

And if anyone has a link to the rebate forum, please post it as I would appreciate it.

I'll check my browser history as well.

Thanks.

Just root the phone and you can remove all bloatware that you don't want (except Google Books, Magazine, and Movies). Rooting is super simple and you can do a lot of other stuff with the phone, like blocking ads. I hope you enjoy the Spirit. I know I do. It's my favorite phone from MetroPCS thus far.

I've had the phone since the first day it came out. I'm still not use to the power button being on the side. I think that's such an odd design.

By the way welcome to the family lol

I would of posted the Rebate form earlier But I'm dealing with some stalker bitch. Man.. she's f'ing crazy..

LOL! Been there, done that.

Thanks though. I did find the rebate form and I'll send all the necessary paperwork in this week.

Diggin' this phone although WiFi can be a bit iffy if you don't have 3 or more bars.

IDK if this is due to the Metro Easy WiFi app, or a bug in the software.

If I switch to "Data" and back to WiFi, it works fine.

I think it's that damn EasyWiFi app bloatware causing the problems.

But if I have 3 or 4 bars on the WiFi meter, no problem.

Anyone else?

I'm having no issues. Although in running gametheorys ROM. Personally I suggest you run it. I've seen way improved data through put using it.

No idea how, but I'll have to research and learn just like everyone else.

I've also noticed that battery life is short, so I might buy a spare on eBay.

metro's wifi app will mess with your wifi connection. part of the battery drain tends to come from background junk running. GT's cleaned up ROM works nicely.

Will this work on an LG Motion? I'd like to practice on that phone before trying it on my new Spirit.

I don't think the ROM will. The recovery is the same one used for the motion. I can't say if the root will or not. even though the OS and processor are basically the same. Still different phones physically

Thanks, but this looks like it's beyond the scope of my abilities and knowledge and I don't want to brick my new phone so I might have to live with it as is for a while.

JB/Unlock on the iPhone was soooo easy - I wish it were the same on Android.

I'll have to read, read, read and then read some more until I feel confident enough to try this.

well the iPhone is a toy, android is a real computer system. It's actually really simple to do on the Spirit. The recovery app is the same one that they use on the motion.

Yeah, Apple/Macs are basically for kids and the computer illiterate.

That's why they use them is schools.

Maybe I'll go on YouTube and see if there is an instructional vid.

I can read until my eyes turn red and not "get it" but if I see something done once, I can then do it blindfolded.

they use them in schools because apple "donates" them. It's apples marketing tool to brain wash the masses into buying their junk. You hook the kids and then the kids hook their parents and grandparents. Then the kids go on YouTube pledging their allegiance to Apple, getting other sheeple to also fall in line.

I don't know how much easier it can get with one-click root.

It's some of the other steps/terminology that I'm not familiar with.

Unless this phone is defective or there is a bug in the software, Internet connection shouldn't fail like it does.

I didn't have this problem with my Motion in the same environment, so I might have to take it in this week and have some idiot at a Metro store tell me the obvious.

Might be the phone, I don't have any issues with the WiFi. It connects to my home and work connections with out any issues.
