Wireless Chargers

Just got mine in yesterday. Was a cheap, non-brand of a wireless charger from Amazon:
Amazon.com: Lerway Wireless Qi Power Charger Pad for Lumia920 HTC 8X S4 S3 Note II (Black): Cell Phones & Accessories
Works just fine even with a TPU case on. :)
Charging time seems fine, but I don't burn through a ton of battery life each day so it's nice to just drop it on there. I did check and see how sensitive it is, and yeah, it needs to be just put on in one position. The phone does seem to warm up considerably if left on for long periods of time, so not something I'd use for overnight charging.
If this is one you're interested in, keep in mind it does NOT come with a charging block, only a USB cable. I'm using the OEM block right now.
If anyone else is using a wireless charger, share your stories!
(sorry non-Verizon folks :()

I bought the type A universal coil mentioned above and got it in 1 - 1.5 weeks ago.

Yes, it is slower to charge (I get slow charge notification) than using stock wall charger. Yes, I now have to use wireless to transfer files instead of via USB connection.

That said, it's been great. I had a seemingly finicky charging pad but it turned out that I didn't have the cable plugged into the charging pad all the way (it was loose and would sometimes charge and sometimes not).

At home when on my wi-fi network, I can either use Wireless Storage or Wi-Fi Transfer Pro to do my file moving; the only minor inconvenience is that at work I am not on Wi-Fi, so copying files isn't as convenient (nothing that emailing couldn't solve though).

The most important thing for me is that the phone fully charges overnight, and it has so far without fail (but I have never been below ~40%). Since the battery lasts me a full day (24 hours) with fairly heavy useage, I am happy. I have 2 charging pads at home, and one at work; so there was an initial investment of sorts but I am pleased enough with wireless charging that it will now be a criteria for future devices I think.

FWIW, I purchased a PowerBot PB1020 Qi Wireless pad. Works fine with my VZW model G2. I note now they aren't even available on Amazon. I watched the price go up and up. When I bought mine it was $25.

Placement of the phone is sort of critical. I find if I aim for the Lock Icon on the Lock Screen to land on the middle of the pad (thus the phone is not centered), it works fine.

I note there is a little more heating than I would like.

Also, when the phone hits 100% it stops charging a little while after that. I can tell this happens because the LED on the phone is no longer red and blinking, and the LED on the pad goes from Blue back to Green.

Charges fairly fast though. Maybe too fast.

After reading about that Powerbot model mentioned, I looked everywhere online for it, but everywhere I found it, it was out of stock or discontinued. I coulda sworn amazon.com was one of the first places I checked, but I couldn't find it (yet there it is, lol).

Actually my google search links are still colored (indicating I clicked the links before). Anyways, dang -- wish I could have found these a couple weeks ago -- the fact that they don't use proprietary charging plugs like my Nokia's and no-name ones, and use USB chargers was a plus. Oh well...

Add: in hindsight, I think all links I followed pointed to the same bad listing on amazon and I probably did not search amazon for it directly. Then again, I am forced to use amazon.ca who definitely did not have it.

wow... no longer on Amazon or eBay.
very strange. I wonder if there is a problem with them.

Where can you get the tags for the non-wireless compatible G2?

Amazon.com: LuguLake Micro USB 2.0 QI Wireless Charger Receiver Tag Coil For LG G2 HUAWEI Q10 HTC One Samsung Galaxy HTC DESIRE AMAZON KINDLE 4 AMAZON FIRE SONY ERICSSON XPERIA X2 X10 MINI Erics Eperia X10 NOKIA MINI N97 6500 N82 6600 HTC HD HD2 HD7 (TYPE A)

Type A Micro USB Qi Wireless Universal Charger Tag Receiver Coil for LG G2 New | eBay

I've got both on the way,w/the one from e-Bay coming in 1st,should deliver by 1/9/14,it's currently in San Francisco, after coming from China.

EDIT: Just got a shipping update on the receiver pad from AMAZON, it's currently in Los Angeles, coming from Hong Kong. ETA same as above, 1/9/14.

I'll definitely post a review of each,as I'm certain a lot of users would opt for this low-cost retrofit for wireless charging, should it work as advertised.

Got the QI Receiver tags in today & both work w/a TPU Case, but do not work w/the OEM LG QUICK WINDOW Case installed.

The one I got from AMAZON is noticably thinner than the one I got from e-BAY.The cord on the AMAZON model is a bit shorter as well, which is a good thing,as both are way too long & need a *"Z-Fold"* to neatly fit between the phone & the case.

*THX to ANDROID FORUMS & XDA-DEVELOPERS member Klotar for the "Z-FOLD" tip! * :)

EDIT:

Decided to use the QUICK VIEW case today & contrary to my above previous statement, wireless charging DOES WORK w/this case installed.

I must not have had the USB plug pushed in all the way, either on the QI charger,or,the receiver tag.

Regardless, this is one instance where I'm happy to admit I was in error. :D
