Help wireless charging?

postpalm

Lurker
I'm about to convert to this from a palm pre with mucho homebrew on it (so there'll probably be another series of questions on android solutions to webOS capabilities--pointers welcome), and I have to admit I'm addicted to the ease of using the touchstone to provide wireless charging. I don't think Verizon is supporting wireless charging and/or a back cover to enable it--are there other options for the incredible 4G? Does the incredible 2 have an option that (still) works for the 4G?

Thanks,

Answer my own question. The verizon website now shows a droid incredible 4g wireless charging cover (for $30). Its description says it is compatible with the wireless charging pad (UNIWRLCHG-$50 and out of stock?), however, the charging pad itself does not say it is compatible. I chatted with a verizon agent, on my suspicion they didn't make an update (yet) to the charging pad, he just toe'd the party line and did not make any different confirmations.

There is a media dock, however, for $50 that might perform the same function (though probably with more wear on the micro-usb port). I saw one over at htcpedia shop (for $60) that also is compatible with an extended battery cover...not sure if the verizon one is (maybe they're both made by HTC...)

I saw the wireless charging back. Definitely going to buy it. I've already got wireless charging working w/my Inc2 and love it. I will warn you in advance though that this feature seems to be supported on a rom by rom basis. I've flashed roms in the past that just don't support it.

Have you taken the cover off of your phone and looked at it yet. It has what I believe is either the NFC antenna or wireless charging but can't confirm as there is no info on it to say.

My point is if it's the NFC antenna the wireless charging back picture on Verizon's website doesn't show the same type of connection for the antenna as the one that comes with the phone so makes me wonder if you lose NFC if you switch backs.

That is the NFC antenna on the inside of the stock battery door. If the wireless charging replacement door doesn't have it, my guess is that you would actually lose NFC.
