Woman hit using google direction by foot.

Oh, my ... maybe I need to rethink the "I want GSP on my phone for getting around on foot" idea. I already know I can't walk and text at the same time.

All kidding aside, come on people! Can we not take just a little bit of personal responsibility for staying alive?

But, but, but... it's the technology's fault! It's supposed to better lives.. not take them away! Faulty advertisement!

This reminds me of a list I saw a while back about the worst Android apps (no, I don't remember where). One of them was an app that opened a tiny live view from the camera in your text screen so you could see where you're going while you're engrossed in your all important texting. I guess they never thought to enable Street View, eh?

I wonder how much she would have sued for if she was in her car and a gps told her to go up a one way street and she did :/

Me and my co workers frequently discuss (ironically right after selling one) how some people are too stupid and should be legally forbidden from even owning one..

I was watching kat williams..

So.. let me take a moment to make sure I get in my seven good laughs at this chick.

The wonders of white trailer trash Americans trying to sue everybody until they're self proclaimed millionaires. People like this make me wish we could put someone in jail for acts like this.

We used to say that people shoud get phones based on an IQ test they have to take before starting service or upgrading. Only problem is, most cell phone companies would go out of business because the vast majority of people would only qualify for 2 tin cans and some string.

I wonder if this is the same woman that sued McDonald's because she spilled hot coffee on herself, and said she didn't know it was hot. I'll bet she would have sued if she spilled the coffee on herself and it was cold, too, because coffee should be hot. Except that new iced crap. Only thing worse than coffee is cold coffee

People seem to always use this lawsuit as an example of a frivolous one when it really isn't. The coffee was proven to be much hotter than needed and in that particular year, McDonald's received complaints that their coffee was much too hot. The poor woman needed skin grafts proving that the coffee was way too hot. Ever spilled coffee on yourself? The most one should get is momentary pain, not hospitalization and skin grafts around one's genitals.

Just for record, Route 224 is the main street through Park City, and is a VERY busy road. Anyone stupid enough to try and traverse that street, or any street without looking both ways has got to be mentally challenged, at the least. Not meaning to disparage mentally challenged people.

Yes, this statement has been made before.

HOWEVER, There was another factor in play that you are leaving out, or unaware of.

She was wearing sweatpants. The sweatpants absorbed all of the hot coffee, and held it against her skin.

Yes, the coffee was hot, but if not for the sweatpants, she would have felt momentary pain and not needed skin grafts.

I believe this is why she was ruled partially responsible, although she still ultimately got compensation because it was found to be mainly McDonald's fault for having coffee that was too hot for consumption.
