It looks extremely interesting but after the troubles I've recently had with Ubuntu on my PC I think I'll stick away (completely different situation I know, call it bad feelings).

Didn't someone on this forum already flash some sort of Ubuntu OS to the Nexus 7? I remember reading it somewhere and they came to the conclusion that it's a waste of time at the moment due to apparent bugginess and lack of compatibility (obviously because it wasn't built for the purpose). I'm sure an official release would be much better.

There was a version floating about for the GNex iirc, if there's a version kicking about for the N7 at the moment, I'd be tempted to give it a go.

A developer preview is available. Looks like you need to be running Linux on your desktop to be able to flash it though.

We've had ubuntu (desktop version) for at least a few months already. It wasnt ready for primetime yet, so I hope to see some real improvement

what is Ubuntu? why would i want that OS on my N7?
what does it bring that gives it a heads up over android or ios??

i really dont know anything about this new OS... been hearing the name here and there... but nothing detailed about it.

Ubuntu is one of the more common linux distributions.

As to why you'll want it? Probably won't at this point

All those that are eager to try Ubuntu should read the caveats. The current pre-version is apparently not very stable.

A quick search of YouTube will find lots of videos of Ubuntu running on N7s.

Us nerds love playing with operating systems, but normal humans tend to be more interested in the apps they run. In this respect Ubuntu on an N7 shares the same problems of any new OS i.e. that there isn't an established infrastructure.
