Help won't import contacts from SIM

dam phone just updated it's firmware, in the process it deleted all the contacts off the phone.
now it won't import the contacts from the SIM yet reports the sim as being full.
this happened last time it updated and I had to re-enter all the contacts again, couldn't figure out how to send them from my other x10 mini to save time
anyone else had this problem and, more importantly, know a solution ?

You may be sorted now, but my thoughts would be back them up to SD card on your other mini then put that sd card into the clean phone and restore from SD card there.
