wont keep contacts saved

when i add somebody to contact's the phone keeps 'forgetting' the contact after so long. its done it again today,ive made a new contact,saved it, sent messages to the contact, just picked phone up to message and the contact has gone again,just the number left with no name on messages list and on whatsapp and contact has gone fron contact list. 2nd time this has happened in last couple of weeks. has anybody else encountered it? is this another result of the shitty marshmallow update?

Google contact? This sounds like a sync problem...

What if you add a contact on https://contacts.google.com does it show up on the phone?

thanks for that, so far it seems to be working. weird why it wont save direct from phone though,i haven't changed anything.
