Help won't open files or links from email client

As a long time Apple-deny'er, I was stoked when the Droid OS came out on tablets. I waited and finally bought a Xoom. I absolutely love it for business and my 6-year old does too. But over the last few weeks, I have run into an issue. Whenever there is a link or file in an email, if I try to open it, the screen turns dim-mish and gray and nothing happens. I can tap the back key and can maneuver again. At first, I thought it was just links as I use Dolphin instead of the built-in browser. But it happens with PDF an TXT files also. Sometimes, an XLXS file will open with Documents to Go (Full version) and sometimes it won't. I received a spreadsheet last night and it opened fine but I cannot access it this morning. Anyone have any ideas? At first I thought it was the default program but installed TED and a text file will not open.

I have this same problem from time time and have seen it crop up around 8 times in the last 6 months. For me it can last a day to a week.

I am not sure how to fix it but the last time it happened I took a guess and manually opened my PDF reader app and then manually browsed to the file I was trying to open. After that the links all worked again. Could be coincidence as I only have a sample of one time.

BTW - I no longer check off the box to select this app automatically the next time I select a link. I found that doing that allows this problem to stay much longer when it does occur.

Basically this happens when I try to open web or file links from a different program like my email or from twitter. Clicking those links from within the app that handles them is not a problem.

Scratch that idea. My Xoom is doing it again and my one time trick did not work. It is very annoying when it does this.

I started having this issue too the last few days. I uninstalled all my browsers to see if i only used the stock browser if that was the issue, but no, it still does it... maybe someone out there knows why?

Yeah - mine is doing this again today. I had a 1 day reprieve yesterday but its hosed again today. Its really annoying. I wonder if thithis is a Xoom thing or an Android thing?

OMG! All this time I have been frustrated and i finally just did a quick Google search and found the answer in 1 minute.

Bottom line on top: when this happens, rotate your Xoom 90 degrees, wait until the screen adjusts, then rotate it back. Try again. It works.

More details: this is a 3.2 bug and is well known. I found this link which lead to a bunch of others:

Dumb - but I finally have a "fix" to this annoying issue.

Happy holidays everyone! Christmas, Hanukkah or whatever day makes you smile.
