Root Won't recognize headphones

Not sure what else to say but "argh." Prior to my recent reset, it wasn't an issue. Plug in headphones, boom, the phone asks me what I want to listen to. Now, though, I plug in headphones and nothing. I adjust the volume and I hear it out the speakers, no matter how much I fiddle with the jack.

I probably need to do a proper Kies reset like I'd set out to do originally. I have no idea what went wrong.

Meh. :banghead:

Just curious, what music app are you using? Currently I'm using the stock app and mine doesn't even ask me what I want to do, it just plays through the headphones when I plug them in. But I remember it asking me at some point in the past. Which I know doesn't solve your problem, just wondering if there's a setting somewhere that we're overlooking.

Can also try looking down in the jack with a flashlight, there are two little tiny brass pins, you can very carefully pry them out a bit with a sewing needle, but that would only work if it was a connection issue and not a software thing.

Previously, it was the system that asked me what app I wanted to launch when I plugged in the headphones. No big pop-up or anything, just a thing in my notification drawer. Last night, though, as I said, nothing happened and the sound went through the phone as though there were no headphones. I hadn't even launched an app yet, that was just me testing the volume with the side rocker.

I'll check to see if there's something physical to blame -- thanks for that suggestion.

Thanks.

only a custom kernel couldve borked voltages like that, otherwise its a hardware problem and has to be taken up with warranty

What's the fix for that?

Thanks.

Before this is asked in the MiRaGe thread, headphones are working with MiRaGe kernel :)

I know whatever problem you have I always say it is not related to kernel so far. But it is just the case so far. I hope I can fix one of your problems in the kernel in future, not that I am wishing ill to you but anyway :D

Just out of curiosity, what was it?

You mean besides extraordinarily embarrassing? :o

It was a stupid and unfounded assumption that I failed to explore before jumping to conclusions. Just because the volume adjustment comes out of the speakers (particularly while no particular sound-producing app is running) while the headphones are plugged in does not mean that the sound will fail to go through the headphones once a sound-producing app is producing sound. It also may or may not have had anything to do with my Page Buddy settings.

Let this be a lesson on how not to derp!

To quote James Woods as Hades in the Disney classic 'Hercules'... "Two thumbs, WAY, WAY UP!":D
