Help Won't turn on + vibrations

Well my HTC desire hd was dropped a few months ago, I haven't been able to get around to getting the screen fixed. since then it's been working pretty much fine, until now.

I don't know if it's related, but now my beloved DHD has run out of battery. When I plug it into the charger, all it does is vibrate 5 times every few seconds. I've tried multiple chargers, plugging it out and in, pulling out battery, nothing seems to work :(

Is it bricked? If so, I doubt it's under warranty because it was dropped, so should I just give up and buy a new phone? It was going to be very expensive to fix anyway, and I'm not paying any $ per month for the handset itself (still on a plan though), so I may as well buy a new phone, right? :( Very sad about this, mainly because it would probably be fixable via warranty if I hadn't dropped it :\

Any ideas?

What happens if you take the battery out for 30 seconds, put it back in and then hold Volume Down + Power?

If there's still life in there it should load the bootloader, which I believe can report hardware failures if they exist.

I just tried that, when I put the battery in again it vibrates 7 times and then nothing. When I plug the power in there is no orange light, it was flashing earlier today when I tried to charge it, but now nothing.

It doesn't boot up into that mode btw with the volume button :(

Nevermind, I found a thread over on xda which says I have to send it in for repair. Since I dropped it, the warranty is void and I didn't have insurance.

Oh well, time to finally get around to selling my iPod touch which I've never use since I got the dhd, I'll have enough for a new phone, thinking about the Optimus 2x or Nexus S, anyone got any ideas on those 2 (i know it's not the right place, but hey, may as well).
