Wordfeud - multiplayer Scrabble for Android

I have 8 games that have been idle for 2 days now. The other guy/gal won't resign and doesn't play. It's a wee bit annoying. Hopefully an update adresseses this.

An auto resign feature would be nice. Force players to forfeit after 48 hours or something like that.

Also a tab or way to organize games won vs live/idle games would be nice.
 
I played and then uninstalled. The ads are just way too annoying and I have to say I also prefer the look of WordWise. I think without the ads it could be a very good alternative.
 
This is a great game, well done.

A friend I was playing was complaining of connection problems and tonight I'm getting them too. I've got a push notification that it's my turn on a game but the game won't update because it can't connect. All other data functions on the phone are working fine.
 
I am getting connection problems too tonight. I have full wifi bars and my connection works in other apps.
 
One friend I was playing has now uninstalled it because of the connection problems mainly but also because of the ads. I'm guessing the server can't handle the number of requests it's getting?

This has also highlighted another problem, since it was his turn when he uninstalled I can do nothing, resign is greyed out and there's no way of removing the game from the list so it'll be stuck there forever now.
 
It is annoying how I can't remove/delete games I won or games others have resigned from. Is there a way we can add this option to this game?

Otherwise aside from the connecting to server issue I am loving this game.
 
Sorry everybody, I had to take the server down while I do some upgrades. It will probably be a couple of hours before everything is up and running again.

When it's up again, you might want to keep the game list open for a couple of minutes to let it sync properly, otherwise it will look like you've lost all your games.
 
I enjoy it, but man...the ads are out of control. I hope there's a solution from Google in the near future about your ability to sell from Norway. I would gladly pay a buck or two just to eliminate the ads.
 
I installed and played a few games last night/this morning. I must say I really like it. I understand it's still early in development though, and have a few pieces of feedback I'd like to give.


  • Ads - I don't mind ad supported games, however I think it could be tweaked a bit so you don't get them quite as often. At first I thought it was automatic that you receive an ad after every turn, but then noticed a few times I didn't get an ad pushed, which indicates to me there is a method of how often you see them, and that it can be tweaked down a bit.
  • Adding Friends - Unless I missed it somewhere, there should be an option to add the player you're currently matched up with as a friend.
  • Chatting - I'd like to see a transparent pop-up option instead of being taken away from the board screen to chat.
  • Scores/Leaderboards/Ranking
    • Leaderboard with your best scores and best words
    • Ability to see opponents best scores and best words
    • Player rankings based on games won/lost, difficulty of words used, etc..
  • Game Filters - Would be nice to set game options when searching for a random game (or even setting up a game with a friend)
    • Maximum turn length/time. Force an auto resign you don't play within a certain amount of time.
    • Player rank. Search for opponents above/below a certain rank.
I'm sure I could think up a lot more (and did while playing), however I'm sure most of what I thought of are probably nothing others haven't thought of already, and are probably slated to be added in future versions.
 
cannot connect today. A friend and I keep getting a message saying we have an old version.

No update on the Market yet though. Hopefully soon?

I absolutely love it, and as soon as I found out about it, I posted a message on facebook and got 5 friends started on it as well!

My only issues:
1) The ads. I know that you can't do anything now, but they come up so often that it's ridiculous.
2) The inability to get rid of completed games. I don't want to be reminded of my losses!


I was wondering why my games weren't loading, but I'm glad to hear that it's not just me and that it's getting resolved.

Great game, but it looks like the servers are not able to keep up with influx of players.

I think the first order of business should be ensuring uptime to keep things working smoothly.

This type of game has been a big hole in Android's gaming library, I'm sure the developer did not anticipate such a high adoption rate. Even with Wordwise et al doing their best to fill the void.

It's a good problem to have, but at the same time, a quick fix is going to go a long way in keeping long term players.

Keep up the good work.
 
I'd be interested to know what server setup is in place for a game like this, are you running it from a dedicated server, vps or some kind of cloud solution? Just interested.

All the games I was in the middle of have now disappeared so I've installed wordwise but I'm already realising that wordfued is much nicer looking. It also features push notifications which is a brilliant feature that wordwise doesn't seem to have (you can have it send you an email when it's your turn which isn't ,much help really. Wordwise is also a bit better at placing pieces on the zoomed out board.

Sort out the ads, get the server running properly and I reckon you're on to a massive winner here.
 
I had to perform a hard reset on my phone and reinstall Wordfeud. I'm unable to log back into my account using the information I originally signed up with. Whenever I type my password, it just prompts me to enter it again. If I hit "Don't remember", it brings up a "Please wait.." screen and never stops. I was forced to creat a new account, under a different screen name, since my first one was already taken (by me). Great job with the app so far!
 
How do the push notifications work? Is it really push or is my phone polling the server at regular intervals?

I haven't really noticed any battery drain, but because others are complaining I just wanted to know.

Yes, again thank you for this app. I love the colors scheme.

Leaderboards would be awesome like DenverRalphy was saying. I always think global scoreboards add a ridiculous amount of replay value that would even put this above words with friends...

I'm having the same issue. Is there a way to login with an existing account. I have a few unfinished games that I'd like to play.
