Words with friends?

My mom got the transformer, beautiful device.. and the only quirk she has had with it, is the stupid words with friends app constantly shows ads.

Any idea how to get rid of them? on iphone there is a paid version with no adds.. we haven't seen anything similar in the android market.

Ad free android doesn't work either, due to some ads being locally stored..

There was an apk someone posted.. that I am hesitant to trust as this is now for all intents and purposes her main computing device.

Words with Friends is only ad supported on the Android platform. They do not have a paid version of the app. Many developers find ad based income more profitable than outright app purchase because they can continue to receive revenue throughout the lifetime of the app.

I wouldn't trust a side loaded cracked app either!

You can root and there are apps which block the ads.

To me, not worth it. But I see the frustration.

I install ad block apps on every android devices that comes my way.

The problem is these apps only block apps which are hosted over the web..

This means that any locally stored apps will still pop up and Words with Friends saves the ads locally.

My mom would pay for the app if she had the option.

The problem is the only version that is supposedly "ad free" is a cracked app that I don't trust.

I don't see the problem with the ads on WWF. To me, it's a small, unobtrusive little rectangle in the lower left corner. It never interferes with play and I just ignore it. I wouldn't bother to buy the non-ad version, if it ever comes out, as I am not bothered by the ads. The developers do need a revenue stream, so i don't begrudge the ads at all.

Just my $0.02 and worth ever penny of it. :-)
