Work Without Contract?

When I get a new phone, will the old Hero still work in a 'non-phone' capacity? For instance, would it just become a little GPS device and Wifi web browser?

There's so much capability left in it even when it stops being a phone. I'd keep it around long after.

It will continue to work well. If you have wifi it will connect to the internet and basically be like an ipod touch only, you know, a good product.

Seriously though, I have a Samsung Behold 2 and it works great for everything but phone. Well it can do that too if you use fring or sipdroid with google voice and so on.
