Root Worried about upgrading ROM

macgd016

Newbie
I've had my Flytouch 3 since June and although it works reasonably well I would like to speed up the wifi and Internet browsing which I believe I can do by updating the ROM, either to the stock V8 or Tim6. HOWEVER, despite reading the threads on this site extensively (but clearly not extensively enough!) I do not know which ROM I should use or where to obtain a copy of my original ROM in case it all goes tits up. Could some wise person please point me in the right direction.

I assume that I have a Flytouch Clone and the firmware info us:
DISCO10
2.2-20110503
2.6.32.9

I take it you mean you assume you have a clone but it is Disco model...

Installing Tims latest is a good place to start, it has all the possible drivers for the different wifi adapters and cameras. I suggest you read the notes FIRST SuperPad2 Flytouch3 Hybrid Tim Rom

re-flashing will delete any apps you have installed so if you want to keep them you will have to back them up or find the .apk's and re-install them after re-flashing.

As the original firmware was truly horrible in comparison no-one would want to revert to it!.. if you can't get on with Tims latest, try an earlier version... I still use Tims 4e. Some of the suppliers use Tims firmware as 'stock' and their tablets are supplied with it already installed.

Flanflingers' 'funnycomb' is another possibility..see here FlanFlingers FunnyComb Beta
but I am not sure 'funnycomb' has all the different drivers installed yet......

Thanks for your reply, your are right it was a typo, it should have read; "I assume that I have a Flytouch Clone and the firmware info is:" This is because it came in a box that said SuperpadIII which I believe are all clones.

I am sure that I would not want to revert to the original firmware but if this particular varient of the Flytouch does not support Tim6a then I would need to, hence my questions

All the Flytouch 3's are based upon a tablet which was made by Gome, hence the name of this forum! The terms 'clone' and 'fake' are banded about as a result of propaganda from iBex and Chinagrabber who would like to make you believe that only they make the 'original' but that is all bullsh1t. Your tablet is a Disco10 model. The Disco and Disco10 models are compatible with Tim's, Flanflingers, S01's and TCH's modified firmwares.

Tims firmware will improve your tablet considerably......

Of course, even this claim ("made by Gome") is inaccurate - it would be better to say "first appeared on the Chinese market in Gome stores." Gome is an "Electrical Appliance" retailer - the Chinese "Best Buy." Gome does not manufacture anything.
