worst phone EVER

Jeff Allen

Newbie
I have done nothing but wrestle with this phone (red hot, 3 hour battery, wi-fi and gps disconnections, constant rebooting, etc...) since Verizon gave it to me 3 weeks ago. I brought the phone in several times to complain but Verizon cleverly steered me down the "we can fix it" path. All of this troubleshooting has achieved one thing ... I am now past the 14 day window and cannot return the phone! I'm stuck with it.

From these forums, I have taken suggestion after suggestion and each one made things worse.

After charging this morning ... with the stock quick charger ... this thing was red hot! There was even a message in the notification bar saying that the phone was "cooling down".

Later, I got some sort of update which caused my phone to reboot over and over for about 30 minutes. These rebooting loops usually stop after 10 minutes or so but this one was relentless. I pressed those magic four buttons and ... voila ... I have a factory reset phone. WTF.

Why are the instructions on these forums so inaccurate and haphazard? Pressing those four buttons all at once is the worst possible thing you can do to this phone and this is the second time I have trusted these forums and reset my phone completely.

I hope my completely charged phone strapped to my massive mophie has enough battery power to completely reconfigure itself for the third time.

Jeff, in my opinion you have justified a replacement phone from Verizon. Have you tried to escalate the issue or contact Verizon about putting your payments in escrow? If you have taken your phone in multiple times you have that on record, correct? Contact their customer service department and refuse to deal with tech support any longer. I would even ask to talk to a supervisor... Remember the squeaky wheel get the grease. Good luck!

You have a lemon, no two ways about it. Not familiar with US consumer law, living in the UK. However I would assume you have at least the right to exchange it for a new one.

Are you really pissed at the forum members giving free help or the fact you're not getting the help you deserved from Verizon? That phone is junk and needs replaced. You should have known you were screwed after the first factory reset didn't fix it. Doing the same thing over and over doesn't change the result.

25 year Verizon user here....
forget the 14 day limit, and forget the local retailers.....

call 611 and escalate your gripes past the Script Kiddy Reader who first answers, once you say "I want to talk to your Supervisor" she is out of the loop..... do not take NO for an answer.

Explain the sneaky trick that the local retailer played on you by saying "Oh, we can fix it" when it was obviously a bad phone.

Please report back..... I have been able to get satisfaction from every CS call I have made over the years.

I once escalated a call from script kiddy, to supervisor, to manager and THEN got a Samsung Tech rep on a Conference Call.... I would NOT allow the manager to abandon me.... I told that person that I wanted to continue to talk with her/him after Samsung got off the line.... and he/she did.... ( that was the ONE CALL that I did not get resolved to MY Satisfaction.... it was stopping the Forced Updates to a new OS..... LolliFLOP in this instance ).... I still do NOT like 5.x which IMO is not a good thing for my eyes, or the way I use a phone. 4.4.4 was the best OS to happen to a Galaxy S5.

I think what OP is describing is normal behavior for an S6.

To stop a reboot loop, just remove the battery. Oh, wait..

Well if you really need to do a res-set then make sure to copy all your important data and stuff to the SD... oh...

But seriously, short battery life and overheating are common for the S6.

Guess what the S stands for?

I really don't know how people have so many issues with their phones. I've had virtually no serious issues with this phone at all. And i know others that don't either. It's not the model, it's your specific phone. Take the others' advice and keep escalating in customer service until someone will send you a new(refurbished) phone.

When so many of a specific model are faulty, maybe the design is faulty?

I'm just the public voice of people pissed with their Shit6....

AZgl1500 when did you move to a S6 and finally move on to lollipop. Will wonders never cease.

ummm, I believe my previous post was for an S5, and I still have two of them...
but, gasp! I now also have an HTC One M9 and yes, Wonders Never Seize :D

My S5 has the last revulsion of Verizon's Lollipop....

My wife's S5 is still on 4.4.4 and will most likely stay there, as it never has seen the light of DATA or WiFi since I registered it. All she does is answer "Hello?" and play a game called "Crush"... a very narrow window on the world with that girl.

I doubt you'll see any lawsuits, but you may see a drop in sales for the next phone if Samsung continue to ignore their core user base

I was thinking about moving to an S6, because Tmobile has their cheap upgrade to S6 w/ Jump program going right now (I missed the $0 upgrade from a couple weeks ago). But the first thing I always do when researching a phone is look at antenna/signal, and this lead me down a constant stream of vitriol from current owners. So, is this a vocal minority or is this a "you have a 20% chance of getting a POS"?

Thx, It's not just this forum though. Actually this is the only post on the S6 forum I've read through. I've just read more hatred for the S6 & S6 Edge across the internet than any phones out there.

Samsung made a lot of S6's and S6E. Even if <1% have problems and .01% are outright lemons, that's a LOT of defective devices out there. It's human nature to condemn the whole lot when they have a bad one in hand. And, satisfied customers rarely post in support forums. It's the nature of the beast here. If you read through every forum, it would seem no manufacturer can make a decent phone ... including Apple, whose iPhone 6 forums are loaded with unhappy customers.

I have had the original Samsung Galaxy S, S3 and S4 and have at this time the S6.
I have only posted when I have had a problem that were relative to my understanding and the complexity of the modern phone.
I would say that my experience with all of the Galaxy S phones that they have performed to my complete satisfaction, and would agree that the forums do not reflect the general perception of the phone.

I too still have an original Galaxy phone, the 'S' model and it is working today just as well as it ever has.

Did I had problems with it at first? Damn right I did.
Did I go to the forums and complain, Yep, I did...

Six months later, the forums just went dead.... no more complaints at all.
Just the usual question on how to use an app, etc...

It is just the nature of the beast.
there is not a single car model made that does not have an irate owner, who is standing on a pulpit yelling about what a piece of trash it is...

The owners who don't have issues, don't bother to look up a forum and tell the rest of us how good it is.

That's because there's few things worse than a convert - and that goes for a negative convert too, such as when you're a great Samsung fan, then have Samsung take a dump down the back of your shirt and tell you it's raining oatmeal...
