Worth Buying Another blade?

I've had 2 zte blades in the last year, the 2nd one because the first one went for a wash in the sink lol

my current one hasnt been charging properly for a while, its a loose connection or something because i've tried several different chargers and a new battery, now the red light wont come on at all to say its charging so i'm gonna say its dead.

my question is, is it worth me buying another one after all this time? or is there a better alternative a year later? or should i save up and get a higher priced phone?

i mean i love my little android phone and everything it can do, it was my first android phone and i had fun amazing my friends by controlling my pc, streaming bbciplayer while riding a bus and generally just being awesome :D

There's nothing wrong with the phone and there's nothing wrong with getting a higher priced one either.

In these harsh financial times, why not get another if you've no issue with it.

Well I will say from 2 smartphones 2 friends have that for its money ZTE is amazing. One of my friends have the iphone. iphone is indeed an amazing phone with a ton of LOCKED features and for its hardware its really booming. The other one has the HTC Desire HD which costs about 2and half time more than Blade.

Personally I would not buy a new one at all. If its just the connection being lose or maybe it has been boken from inside I would take it to a technician to fix it or i would buy a battery charger and since as it seems you have a spare battery i would keep them both charger and switch them.

The reason I say that is because its not even 1 year since ZTE came one so why spend money now to get an almost same technology phone and not wait for a bit longer and as you say get a cheap or a higher priced one later when something totally new will come out.

Yeah I'd do what weltall suggested. Get an external battery charger with a spare battery and try that. Then when the Orange Monte Carlo comes out (September?) see how much that is. The San Francisco will hopefully drop in price at that point also.

The Monte Carlo is ZTE Skate???

I don't think good value, compared to Blade, same Processor, overclocked to 800MHz, same RAM.

I would look at the Huawei U8800

gsmarena Comparison Skate vs Huawei U8800

Good support on Modaco

Ummm well all I can see in the comparison is smaller screen, older and the CPU has the same MHz even if as your say Skate's is OCed.. I do not see why the Skate is worse?

mmmmmm, ya better check the CPU again!!! MHz doesn't say it all.

Skate CPU is OC'd version of the one in Blade.....Arm V6

Huawei U8800 has Snapdragon, ARM V7.....800MHz...can be OC'd to 1500MHz easily...check it out!!

Makes a difference, believe me!!! For one thing, supports Flash 10.1 out of the box.

Older?? Skate was supposed to be released last march!!!

Skate Wifi b/g.....Huawei Wifi b/g/n!!

Just my opinion, but Skate, from what we have been told, is just a Big Brother slower version of our beloved Blade.....not worth twice the price....Some peeds can OC Blade to 800MHz!!!

Huawei U8800 is a genuine next generation step up the chain....IMHO

But Huawei has worse quality and support :p

I hear what your sayin' sn but, most ppl here rely on forums like this and MoDaco XDA, etc. for support, particularly after rooting and customizing, i.e voiding their warranty with the manufacturer.

I don't know if Orange support, or ZTE support, or Huawei support is important from a technical point of view, but if device go faulty, and/or not fit for purpose, there are consumer rights, which are enforceable throughout the EU, particularly for on-line sales.

These rights apply to where you buy the device, and not necessarily the manufacturer. The contract is between the Buyer and the Seller/Retailer.

Loads of info below......:)

By support I mean things like source code! ;)

OK, gottcha.

that's me I mean. :D

Although, I see wbaw complaining on Modaco about ZTE not releasing the kernal code for GSF, which would enable options for OCing, etc

Are they and Huawei obliged to release code info, under the Android licence??

I don't know, genuine question!!

(That's separate from the Handbags at Dawn stuff with Pysloid. What's that all about??....it's put me right off, really)

I think its still a great phone and as tempting as it is to go for the latest I would wait until the current crop of top phones drop in price or something earth shattering comes out.
I got my Orange San Francisco to run on my three contact after my mobile on that network was badly damaged. I can renew my contract soon but I am so pleased with this phone that I am going to wait until something special comes out or go on paygo.

I take it you've rooted and installed a custom ROM. If you haven't, I suggest giving it a go. If you like the phone with the stock ROM, you'll love it with one of the alternatives.
