worth protecting the back with a metal?

I got Note 3 today .. I love it .. :)

I got a silicon case for it .. it's good ..

but they had this maroon case - metal on the back - rubber on the front.. I am not sure it is worth getting it .. but it's $$

how vital is it to protect the back? is metal shell with rubber inside that good?

is silicon case sufficient?

what do you think?

personally for a few various reasons I wouldn't want a metal backing.

now if the frame of the phone had been metal - that's a different animal.

but in this case - I would prefer a 2 layer, silicon and polycarbonate or silicone and fibre reinforced resin.

the case I bought is polycarbonate. lighter - more scratch resistant, easier RF transmissivity, etc.

no idea why everyone moans about wanting metal phones. The shock caused by dropping them buggers electronics up and shatters screens (how many iphone screens have I seen shattered!), dents and causes signal issues. Same issue with metal cases. Not saying Samsung phones can't be improved in terms of design, just don't want metal!! As for metal cases - nooooo

I dropped a Note 3 which didnt have a case on and made a mess of the chrome trim (which is covered plastic).

Now it sports a thin shell case off ebay. Dropped it a few times and the phone isn't damaged!

I agree with the members above, even though the case might advertise 'metal' it isn't always the best.

I, personally, like the layered silicon, because the metal does cause the device, in my opinion, to break more easily.
