Root Worth rooting this phone

Is it really worth rooting this phone. I got this phone when it first came out with US Cellular but still not a single OTA update. So I was curious if there are any downsides to rooting and how to keep myself from bricking my phone. All i want to do is flash a custom ROM of stock KitKat. So if there is any way to do so plz reply and tell me your opinions on if i should root or not.
 
rooting is beneficial, but so far we don't have stock kitkat (that I know of.) if you find a kitkat ROM for another device, (even if it's similar.) don't flash it! only flash ROMs we currently have. such as chev's simplicity or CM10. simplicity is leagues above the stock ROM! so yes, you should try it :)
 
Thanks I'll try rooting. Any recommendations on what program to use in order to root. I have heard or the motochopper for the F5 but I want a good insurance that it would work.
 
download an app called framaroot, and choose the gandalf method. it will work for sure, guaranteed. just follow the instructions on our rooting thread in the all things root section to install recovery or other ROMs/mods :)
