would you trade your D2...

And palm pre plus for a fascinate? I got an offer today but hesitated because 2 devices for 1 doesn't seem like a fair trade. On the other hand, that screen and processor are to die for. Anyone wanting to weigh in would be greatly appreciated.

Well I can say that I'm switching to the Fascinate in a couple of weeks, and I have a D2. After my long time faithfulness for physical keyboards, I feel i dont need one anymore. I've been wanting a really slim phone like the fascinate. Plus like you said, that super-amoled screen and hummingbird processor are to die for. (not literally of course.. lol)

I also want a phone without a locked boot loader.

Not me. I'm still reading about GPS problems and I haven't read when the Fascinate is getting its update.

Plus, I use word and excel a lot on my D2. So having a device that only has a virtual keyboard severely cuts into the amount of the document I can see on screen while typing.

Only things that worry me.:(

Hopefully they skip Froyo and go straight to Gingerbread. I heard Samsung devs have had a lot of time to work with 2.3 on their Galaxy S devices so who knows.

I have a fascinate now, and may be switching to the d2. Call quality, gps reception, phone reception, and battery life are all just too poor for me.

The battery on the D2 is the best I've seen. Scrolling is atrocious with motoblur and im hoping gingerbread will help that.

Without a doubt. Even with it overclocked, I still finish the day with it never lower than 50%.

And to the orig poster.. I have not had a hands on experience with the Fascinate.. But with the way my R2D2D2 is running presently, I would not exchange it for anything.

How do you have it running? I tried launcherpro and even that sucks. Sometimes when I scroll it'll open one of my widgets with any launcher.

I was speaking more specifically about the battery, and how well that is performing.

But I have it running with LauncherPro Plus. Jrummy DROID2 Overclock Medium Voltage, 1.3.

When you say you are scrolling and it opens a widget, where do you mean you are scrolling? Scrolling through the desktops? The app drawer?

I even get great battery life @ 1.35. I also use JuiceDefender, and that helps alot too, along with scaling profiles.

I would have to play with the Fascinate to really weigh it out.

Anyone wanna send me a demo? :D

I would possibly trade for a DX but I'm not sure. That phone is big and runs the same screen resolution as the D2.

I wouldn't get a Fascinate, let alone trade in my R2D2D2 for it. There isn't anything out there right now that I would trade it for. No, not even the D2G. I wouldn't mind swapping the outer casing, but I can wait for a good 4G smartphone with a keyboard.

By the time the fascinate gets froyo honeycomb will be out and other phones will already be updated to gingerbread. Samsung sucks with updates which is why the fascinate will be the last phone i buy from samsung ill still with moto or htc

I had amazing battery life with my fascinate. Call quality did suck but the battery lasted me all day and i would still be left with atleast 50% battery with heavy usage
