Man, kind of off topic...but is it me or for the specs....you would think the s5 couldve done a little better? at least 3gb ram for all that bloatware? besides the 4k video and the marginal better camera...im kinda disappointed...i think im loving my lg g2 even more with kit kat...not to mention the 2800 maH on that s5..yikes..

Overall all the S800 devices are on par and since the S805 won't come out till mid year, there's not much OEMs could have done. Though the S801 is meant to be a little more powerful, I doubt it would make a noticeable difference.

They really should include a 3500 mah battery. I would gladly take a slightly bulkier phone any day. The S5 is disappointing.

I don't think beat but glad to see that our G2 beings an 'old' phone at this point was pretty much on par with this years new phones... screen, processor, memory, battery and we're all on kitkat now too.
i think in benchmarks for those that care we'll be pretty close... it wont be as big a difference for example between my Nexus 4 and when I went to my G2 with the new 800.
Last year the G2 spec blew away the S4 specs but the consumer really didnt give the G2 much notice and care anyways in terms of sales. But at least I guess you can say the G2 has been futureproofed for another year and it'll be time for me to upgrade maybe in 2015 where I'll be looking for at least a 20mb camera and 3gb ram and 3500+mA battery for average 3 days between charge and 8+ hours avg on screen time, etc

I was saving one of my T-Mobile "jumps" for the S5 but I couldn't wait and got the G2. Glad I did. Underwelmed by the S5.
Samsung won't keep their mobile crown if they become complacent. The Xperia Z2 has better specs and we still don't know the official specs of the new HTC and the G3. I know there is a certain plateau that phones will reach when the hardware really won't bring a wow factor anymore but the S5 having a smaller battery than competitors phones that came out last year just leaves them open to criticism and doubt. Why not just release at least a 3,000 mAh battery with the battery saving software? That way people won't say, "I like the S5, but this other phone has a lot longer battery life." Since these are still supposed to be "mobile" phones I'd like to see more advancements in the battery department. A bigger battery seems like a better idea than a heart rate monitor (which I'm guessing will be hit and miss being most of the sensors on my S4 worked half the time or not at all). Maybe the 200 or so mAh doesn't make that big of a difference, but that feeds into my main argument against Apple: you pay a premium for less hardware (I'm just basing my argument of T-Mobile prices but you can get the G2 or Xperia Z1s for $50-$100 cheaper than the S4).
Never owned an LG before my G2, but at least I see them trying (which I suppose is necessary to gain any traction in the market). Instead of being complacent with a similar battery to the S4 they decide to make a stacked battery to get as much juice into the phone as possible (I get the comfort that comes with removable batteries though). Moving all the buttons to one central spot on the back of the phone was a bold move and I absolutely love it. The volume rocker works perfectly as a physical camera button as well. Even with the G Flex they are trying something new with the self-healing skin. Sony seems to have almost perfected the fully waterproof phone as well. All of these features seem more useful than anything on the S5 and I can't wait for these features to be perfected in future iterations of these phones.

Yeah, I know I'm being a bit optimistic lol... but I'm not a heavy user and i can really get two days now if I wanted to waking up the next day in the 60% range but I just like to top off every morning in case of emergencies. Currently 1-1.5 day with heavy use absolutely no problem.
I'm surprised on the smaller battery on the S5 but could be the 801 processor is even better on battery where it will get the same performance as ours.
Going forward I dont think I will go with any phone with less battery power/run time. Let's hope for 2.5 day capability then

The one HUGE upper hand the Galaxy line has on the G2 is the touchless gestures. I have spent a lot of time with a Note 3, and I LOVE the touchless gestures. For some reason LG decided to completely ignore this awesome step forward in smartphone technology. G2 kills competition in every other way as far I'm concerned.

I loved that on my S4 when it worked. It was great for switching app shortcuts between homescreens. Never worked in my photo gallery on my replacement S4 though.
Does the S4 have a specific sensor for this or does it just use the front-facing camera? (I don't remember) Because my Microsoft Surface RT has the touchless gestures in their recipe app. It just turns on the webcam and you swipe in front of the lens to turn pages. Seems like something LG could add with a software upgrade.

I'm ready for a new phone and the LG G2 appeals more to me than the S5 (and S4). I'm not a power user, but prefer a good camera and good battery life as my main uses along with web browsing and navigation. Going from a Droid Razr Maxx to the LG G2 (for $50 with new 2yr contract) will more than hold me over for the next 2 years. The S5 doesn't seem to add anything for me as a user, especially at the $200 price tag (minimum) for a new contract.

Wow, this is great to hear. My contract is up this month and I was deliberating waiting for the S5, but a lot of great reviews of the LG G2 are getting my attention! When did this phone come out, Sept 2013? its not THAT old, when I was also considering the S4 which came out last April.
Even with the G2 being 4 months old, it's still one of the newest out there. It's features kill too. Only downsides I've hear of are that the screen is kind of fragile (can be remedied with a $30 case) and the navigation can be flakey (could be location and carrier related). So for my $50, it's the best phone out there for my needs. And far surpasses what I'm using now (2yr old RAXR MAXX).
I agree...I've had various android phones (and even an iphone) but this G2 has kept me the most satisfied, longer than my previous phones. I think i read an article that kitkat was designed to run on the lower end phones with only 512 MB of memory. With 2GB RAM, this phone should be a burner for a long time. And with the 3000mah battery, this phone is future-proof quite a while.
Ultimately, it's your final decision on what phone to get, but all I can say is you won't be disappointed in the G2.

Just keep in mind, a photo taken from a rumored LG G3 has leaked. The person who leaked it is claiming the G3 may be out in July. Also, the LG G Pro 2 was announced not long ago and it should be released soon (but no idea on what carriers will have it).
Not saying the G2 isn't still a great device, but if you can hold out a little longer, it may be worth considering.
I was thinking about the G3 but i heard its going to be 5.5 inch and i think that the size of the G2 is perfect size, which the G series should stick to IMO. But we will see. Also my broken screen HTC Butterfly was giving me the $h!ts as an update to 4.3 has broken the phone. I cant connect to the PC anymore and 'shoebox engine' errors keep popping up. I had to get a new phone and there is nothing on the market now and soon to come that is better then the LG G2 (IMO)
BTW why aren't more people here importing the LG G2 f320? With micro sd card slot and interchangable batteries (x2) only losing 400Mah its a much better phone. Only reason i can see is lack of ROMs?

It isn't compatible with all 4G bands in some countries plus some of us don't mind that it doesn't have an SD card and with this battery for most people that's more than enough.

If they can manage to make the bezels as slim as the G2 then i would buy the G3 even if it was slightly bigger. I hope they make the battery life as good as the G2. I am very happy with the phone.

No micro SD slot makes no difference to me. The phone has SO many other more advanced storage systems that it makes SD card a thing of the past. Who needs a removable battery?! The phone has a few ways to reset it. I say it is not superior but inferior.
