Help write operation failed using ODIN3

I'm attempting to update a Samsung S3 using ODIN3. It adds the phone ok, but then gives a write failure.
The phone is still in download mode. What are my options at this point ? I have used ODIN only once, on the same laptop, with the same version of android (4.4.2). The other phone loaded without any problem. Not having the same success with this. I don't want to damage the phone, so thought I would ask before I went any further. Appreciate any sage advice you can offer. Thanks

Is the phone bricked? It sounds like theres a partition corrupted. It could just be as simple as using a different cord though. If the phone worked before, it will still work now if you just reboot it.
But try a different cord, or a different USB port on your PC.

To get your phone to reboot from download mode (Odin mode) if Odin has failed to flash, long press on power button and all should reboot as normal.

The failure of Odin is more difficult to diagnose. A screen shot of Odin failing would help.

Ok. You were right Madbat!! I tried a different cable and a different USB port. This time it went all the way through. The phone rebooted and it is working again! thanks so much for the suggestion. Thanks dynomot for responding! I appreciate the support !
