Help Wrong ROM - phone dead and USB doesn't work

Lurker
I have a friend at work with a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S2. He tried to root it and load ICS, but he grabbed an AT&T firmware by accident. Now, the phone can only get to download mode and keis recovery mode, but something is hosed because no matter what computer we plug it in to, the USB won't recognize anything.

When he boots into download mode, it says:
ODIN Mode
Product name -GT-i9100
custom binary download: no
current binary: samsung official

So, is there anything that can be done, or is the phone a doorstop?

The phone is bricked. Had the same issue with one I bought from someone. You will have to get a replacement from sprint. There is no way around it.

Ok ...So you got the phone into download or Odin Mode...Now you need Odin on your PC Desktop and the EL29 Stock Tar File ...Put that into the PDA Section of Odin...Make sure just Reboot and PDA are checked ...Click start and that should put you back to stock outta the box with no root...

Then you can root it with an ICS Modem Kernel Rom and CWM ...With Auto One Click from XDA Developers...
