Help X10 2.1 Update - Issues/Problems

The H is fine, it's better than 3G. However, I had this problem too after the update. I had to reinstall the update with PC companion, just follow the steps I posted above!

. Repaired and everything is running smoothly, but I've noticed that "H" drains my battery quickly. Can you recommend an app that toggles betwwen "H" & "Edge"? I've heard that "Edge" uses less power. Thanks.

Anyone else have issues connecting to facebook?
I'm forever getting a red exclamation mark in notifications saying could not connect to the internet to update facbook.
I also have problems with google maps. I have, on occasions, waited up to 10 mins for the map to load!!
I have the all singing, all dancing 'H' instead of 3G, but connectivity seem worse since this little blighter has reared it's head.
Anyone else experience connection problems?

regarding the phone book issue with not showing all contacts.
if u open the stock phone book app. click on the top left button in the corner. then change the display options.

Were you able to listen to messages before the update? I had a problem with my voicemail. If I got messages, I couldn't listen to them via the notification bar, it kept saying there was no number and I'd have to dial, I think 191 for Vodaphone. I remember on an older phone thought that there is a specific number for voicemail, in effect it just looks like a mobile number. This was missing from mine but found it online (Even though it took a million guesses on google to find it!)
mr_esmit: A post thanks will do! ha ha As for an app, I'm not sure if there is one that will let you switch. You could try downloading AppBrain, which is a way of finding apps that are on the market, but much easier!
Smokey_Barr: The connection problems was 1 of the problems I fixed with the reinstall. For some reason I had the H for a few hours, then it disappeared. The worst part was I had full bars but no connection?
My phone works so much better now but kinda gutted I've got cool live wallpapers but they cause so much lag on my phone I don't use them... Except when near people with iphones to annoy them. My brother claims he can change the wallpaper on his 4g. I didn't think you could customise those bricks? Then again, if you don't have an app tray then what's the point if you can't see it?

I am pretty happy with my X10 since the update but it has a couple of weird things happening that I'm hoping someone can help me with.
1. When someone leaves me a voicemail, I get the regular voicemail notification and now I also get a text message telling me I have voicemail. Can anyone tell me how to disable the text message?
2. The phone seems to have a hard time staying connected to wifi. I will tell it to connect, and it does, but then a few minutes later I look at it and it's on 3G again.
I'm in Canada on Rogers wireless.

Hmm, not sure about this. I just checked on my phone under "voicemail" settings and the only option it has is to put in the voicemail number. For some reason it says mine isn't set even though I did it the other day after the long search I just posted above. Hmm
You could check and see with Rogers. Do they have a support page on their website? I'd try that before talking to them directly in the off chance it's an easy fix.

I solved this problem with my phone,i simply copied my contacts to my memory card and reset my phone,it seems to have done the job.
I've noticed that sometimes when I close an app or finish a phone call, my wallpaper reverts back the one I had when I updated instead of the live wallpaper I've been running for the last couple weeks. It's not that big a deal, I just re-set the live wallpaper as default but it's an interesting 'quirk' nonetheless.

I'm with Rogers too. When I first got my X10 I asked the dude at the store about the same voicemail-to-text service. His reply was that it's just a free service provided by Rogers that comes with the phone plan. If you really want you can call them and ask to disable it. I just stuck with it. In a way I find it handy. Although it doesn't always get all the words right, I can usually get the jist of what the person is saying and it saves me a lot of time.
As for the wifi, never really had that issue... but it could be because I usually DISABLE the 3G before I connect to wifi. Then when I'm done I enable the 3G again. Some people have told me it's weird doing that, but I just like making sure it's always only connecting to Wifi when I need it to.

Unfortunately I don't get a voicemail-to-text (that's happened once or twice but not usually). I usually just get an text that says voicemail (1), and nothing else.
I finally just figured out the wifi issue though, it turns out I had to change my wifi sleep settings.

Has anybody cacked the text messaging bug yet. What I have found is that I can a one page text but when I go to send two or more is fails. Does any body no why and does any body no if sony are going to fix thiis bug any all the other bugs that that they have had so far with the update. If its not sony is it my network. Im on vodafone in the uk
in my case, it doesn't fail. It sends it any way even though it says failed. This ofcourse resulted in it getting sent and received multiple times.
The other problem is that after sending it the message remains in the box and gets saved as draft.

I had the same problem.
Solved it by running restore again, but only restoring contacts.

I have been on Rogers for years, and have had the same annoying issue on and off.
Just updated....and yep those annoying texts are coming again.
Wish I had a solution, will probably just stop after awhile like before....of course that means it will come back again!

I'm on the same network, and have this problem on a rare occasion, but not often. However, many times it fails to send a message when I've just got out work and took my phone off flight mode and all my twitter texts start coming up, which means I need to wait for them to stop before I can send.

I tried more than i can imagine by following SE instructions through SE youtube site, but all unsuccessful.
I tried removing my operator sim, i tried uninstalling & re-install SE PC companion-2, I tried to turn "off" my windows firewall & disabled my anti virus still, all unsuccessful, huh!!!

Alright. So I have a few issues with my phone post update, though I'm sure lots of this has to do with the phone itself and I'm already planning on replacing it.
Not sure if these have been mentioned but here goes (also, some of these may be more of just complaints I have with the design as well)
1. When I get a text, click the notification bar then select the recent text to view it, instead of actually opening the new message it opens a "new" message. Ie, blank fields. It has never actually taken me to the correct message. It will go to the inbox if I have 2 or more texts though
2. Not sure how this happens, but after using my phone for a bit when I click on the icon for messaging it will open another app that I have. First this was with Live Scores. Because of this I had no way of checking my messages until I turned off my phone.
3. I have also had issues with wifi. I'll turn it on when I get home, but it wont even try to connect until I click settings -> wireless controls and then the message will pop up for "obtaining ip address for..."
4. This is more of a just design complaint, but what did they do to the contacts? It is so unorganized, and a sort of OCD with me is having organized contacts. What I'm referring to is when start a new message and add a recipient, instead of it just saying Dylan M and a his primary number (why they got rid of that, I don't know, but a stupid decision) it shows EVERY possible way to contact him and not just under his name once, but it'll show his name for anything.. I have 4 different Matthews in my contacts. When I try to text one of them, around 13 or 14 different contact information pops up. I only need the mobile number...
5. Lastly, and I think this is just a defeat in my phone itself but, if I play a game like Angry Birds after about 10 minutes or so the game will freeze and the phone will reset itself. Then after it reboots, recent itself again and this repeats until I take the battery out..

My sony backup and restore didnt save all my contacts !
i backed up then followed all the instructions to update, but only 10 out of 200 plus were saved !!!!!! anyone else had this ! >?
oh and i cant log into my google mail account as i have forgotten the password (as it was always logged in , think i only typed it once) so contacts gone !

Back up and restore won't back up your synced contacts and it sounds like they were synced with google. You could log on to your google account online and request a new password / password reset and then set your phone up with that and the contacts stored online should come back to your phone.
