Help X10 2.1 Update - Issues/Problems

is there an option to save contacts just to sim then ? like the good old days !
twice ive lost all my contacts , once with the htc desire (software fault) once with this ! and its a bloody nightmare to get them back.
i never used my googlemail , so i dont see the point in syncing them to that , and as i say i cant sign in , i dont have a second email account for them to send my password too, and i also stupidly cant remember my secret Q !
 
You can save numbers to sim or sd card. From the phone book press Menu then backup contacts and it gives you the choice.

Google to me is a great way to ensure that your numbers are safe and away from your phone, if the phone gets pinched then it doesn't matter where you saved them... they are still with your stolen phone and lost.

I also have exported them from google to Outlook on my PC so I have another place that they are saved. The rest of the stuff on my phone I can live without but phone numbers are a pain to try and get back.
 
Help! When my partner sends me a text, it comes with my mums number attached to it too…but in numbers format, not names. I've looked in to Sync problems etc but I can't be sure if this is an issue...It's as if it's being sent to both myself and my mum (but I know it's not after much time spent trying to sort it myself by deleting and adding names from my phone and my partners phone). It just seems odd that it's my Mums number it is coming up with too and when I reply, it goes to my mum's number…I did send them both a joke text once so i guess somewhere there lies the problem????

Can you turn off auto correct on names? What happens now is if i write a word it firstly makes it as a phone book word. Eg trying to write 'can' it puts 'Dan'. 'If' is Jim. 'Is' is Ow. Etc (which is betts apprently)
 
had to restart phone a couple of times yesterday due to a buttons not responding after connecting to anhter phone on bluetooth

4. This is more of a just design complaint, but what did they do to the contacts? It is so unorganized, and a sort of OCD with me is having organized contacts. What I'm referring to is when start a new message and add a recipient, instead of it just saying Dylan M and a his primary number (why they got rid of that, I don't know, but a stupid decision) it shows EVERY possible way to contact him and not just under his name once, but it'll show his name for anything.. I have 4 different Matthews in my contacts. When I try to text one of them, around 13 or 14 different contact information pops up. I only need the mobile number...

5. Lastly, and I think this is just a defeat in my phone itself but, if I play a game like Angry Birds after about 10 minutes or so the game will freeze and the phone will reset itself. Then after it reboots, recent itself again and this repeats until I take the battery out..

I think I can help you with #3. You may need to change your wifi sleep settings. Go to settings, wireless and networks,wifi settings, then press the menu button, tap advanced, and change the wifi sleep policy to never. This worked for me.

Make sure he doesn't have your moms number listed in your contact info.

I've deleted all meassages, deleted their contact details...everything. It's not an issue with my partners phone that i'm aware of....Thank you forn your help.
 
Hi all, updated to 2.1 last night and I have a couple of questions:

1. Is there any way to switch off the automatic screen brightness? Damn annoying especially when playing Angry Birds.

2. Is anyone else having problems with Mediascape and playing music whereby music stutters considerably when the phone is under load? Listening to music now and it stutters when loading web pages.

If these questions have been covered I apologise - I have searched but found nothing.

I have a debranded X10, bought from rogers, and I debranded it in June 2010. Here are the details of my phone:

Model: X10a
Firmware: 1.6
Baseband: 1.125
Kernel: 2.629-relsemc-android@SEMC #2
Build: R2BA020

My kit number is on the list of kits that SE has released the 2.1 update for.

I've checked constantly using PC Companion and SEUS for the update, but nothing so far. I have even followed some suggestion in another forum to factory reset the phone and run the update software to get 2.1 but still nothing...

Hi there i have just updated my xperia and now i cant download any apps i go to the market and dl them but it just keeps saying starting dl. any ideas, i am prob just being a tool and not done something right, please help.
 
Hi Scotty, have you tried going into Manage Applications and clearing the Market's cache?

I'm pretty sure this sorts out the problem, but post back either way.

Hi there thanks for the reply, i have tried to this and it is still the same :( everything else is working fine but im trying to dl lookout and still saying starting dl.
 
right i done a bit of digging and found this

Go to settings --> applications --> manage applications.
Go to anything that starts with google. Clear cache and data. Then to market, and uninstall updates i think is the option. Do that. Then re sign in on google and such and accept android market terms again

but it seems to work for everyone but not me :(
 
my phone is firmware 1.6 . does this mean i have android 1.6?...i did upgrade to 2.1 android from SEUS but still showing firmware 1.6.. thanks all helps.
 
Yup your firmware is still 1.6. Maybe the update isn't released in your area yet? Try running it on Sony Ericsson UpdateServices rather than PC Companion.
 
are you able to show me step by step how to do it? i went to the website it tells me to download PC companion


I download UPDATE SERVICE from SEUS and update my phone..not sure that how you do it. please let me know

This seems right. It tells you step by step anyway, is your phone charged when you do it? If the phone isn't charged it wouldn't work.
 
yes it is fully charged. I got this x10a from AT&T only 2 days ago , the saleman told me it is 2.1 firmware. I went thru the all the step but it still show firmware 1.6 ..any ideas?
 
AT&T have not released 2.1 and have made no announcements as to whether they are even going to. Your salesperson lied to you I am afraid!
