Help X10 3G Speed Test

Hi all,

Another quiet day in work so though I'd carry out a speed test using speedtest.net from the market to see how good my Orange (UK) connection is.

On a 3G connection:

The best I got was: 1215 kbps download - 383 kbps upload

The worst was: 524 kbps download - 367 kbps upload

I was in my car in a multi storey car park so that may explain the difference in readings within a few minutes of each other.

Would be interest to see how other X10 users speeds are and whether mine is an acceptable speed

I've also been running sppedtest.net tests on my 3G connection. I'm on the O2 network in Ireland.
The fastest I've gotten is 2719kbps down - 555 kbps up
A more typical number is 1500kbps down - 1000 kbps up

On a different note I seem to be getting reasonably poor results on the wifi connection compared with a laptop using the same wifi access point and connecting to the same speedtest.net server. I run the tests one after the other and I get the following results

Laptop - 10 Mbps down - 1000 kbps up (This is actually the speed of my broadband connection so this is the fastest achievable)
X10 - ~4 Mbps - 1000 kbps up

The upload speed on the phone is the same as the laptop upload speed but the download speed is less than half. I have done this test a number of times and it's always the same result. I'm beginning to wonder if the phones download speed limited.

Has anyone else done any connection tests over wifi.

I got around 1200 kbps for both, download/upload...and every time it is the same speed for both, very cool when I am streaming something on qik.com or something...

4mbit down 1mbit up for me on Rogers.

Average of 3500 mbps upload and 1300 mbps download on Rogers.

Looks like Rogers kicks arse!

Damn, I'm jealous now guys...have carried out a number of further speed tests and my average speed out of my work area (where the phone will be used usually) is 57 - 122 kbps download and 51 kbps - 215 kbps upload.

Not very impressive from Orange .

My Wi-Fi tests for DL are far worse than my 3G tests, about half the speed. But the UP speeds are better over WiFi.

Just confirming your test that 3G is faster for me also. It shouldn't be as my WIFI connection is about 6.5M, but 2.22M on the X10.
