Help X10 cannot make video calls?

My brother just got the ICrap4... and he was wondering if he could make facetime calls with others phones than Apples. So we downloaded both Fring app and tryed to make a call. once i tried the app told me i could'nt do videocall because of sofware limitation....how come?

I could do video calls with my old non-smart LG Shine. but cannot do it with the X10?

No front facing camera, it does seem odd that you can't do video calls but in the last 3 years of owning phones that can do it I have only done it twice and that was when me and my cousin were drunk.

It does make me laugh though that after more than 5 years of phone doing video calls the iphone 4 now does it, but its still via wifi though (I think).

Not unless he built his own. Only one cam on an X10. I would assume however you could flip it around for other to see you as long as you dont care about seeing them or vice versa.

Or he duct taped a web cam to the top of his phone :)

The software limitation will be fring or whichever app manages the video call reporting no suitable front facing camera and blocking the video call

well, you don't NEED a front cam to make video calls, rogers gave this option a few years ago with the LG shine & Chocolate (slider), these old devices only have 1 camera. As long as the people you call can see what you see it's fine.

that page is not up-to-date but it clearly shows that we could do videocall way before smartphones came in the business (well blackberry had a monochrome display back then) that's about in 2006
