If you purchase an app in the Android Market you don't normally have to pay for updates of that same app for the same phone. If the author of the app changes it's name or releases an updated version as a different app then all bets are off. One caveat that comes to mind is that the purchase is associated with your Gmail account. If you change accounts you loose access to the transaction.

Thanks man ..As i recently shifted from Apple where we have to pay again after we update an app i was a lil confused
