Help x10 wierd problem

hello guys today i turn my x10 off to take the sim card to put it on my htc desire to unlock it . my x10 had about 50% off battery left . so when i turn my x10 back on it said 2% please charge and the red light was blinking and the screen was soo dark kind of hard to see and after 30 mins when i took it out of my pocket it was back on 48%. does any1 knows what happened?

Battery might have not been seated right, it happened to me when i wiped my phone for update, it was just the connection between the battery and the phone. Never happened afterward.
