Help X10i problems

Harpz

Lurker
Hi first time poster long time browser :) I had to take my X10i back to the Car Phone warehouse as i was having problems with it, it would do nothing. They couldn't fix it so they sent it back to SE who sorted it out and sent it back with 2.1update1 on it instead of 1.6 which i was pleased with. The thing I'm now encountering is problem at which seems random, at any given time the 3 buttons at the bottom will stop responding. I can send a text then press the back button and nothing happens, if i press and hold middle button nothing happens and the same if i press the right button nothing happens again. This also happens if I'm playing with an app or just moving around the various menus, the buttons will stop responding and do nothing. The only way to get around this is to power down the phone and turn it back on and its all OK again for a while, all buttons work with out problems. I took the phone back and the engineer at Car Phone warehouse played around and said it was fine, sods law it didn't button lock with him. Any ideas how i can fix this? Model Number x10i Firmware Version: 2.1-update1 Baseband version: 2.0.46 Kernel Version:2.6.29 SEMCUser@SEMCHost#1 Build number: 2.0.A.0.504

Hi and thanks for reply
The updater tells me that the firmware is up to date, it dose allow me to repair, which i did, will see what happens.

After a little messing around it did the same again :(

Ideas?

Weird question... are you using a case for the phone? Some of the silicone ones are too tight on the side rockers/camera button and if they are slighty depressed then the three hardware buttons fail to function.

Sorry not using a case :(

Darn it, that would be such a simple solution!

Hmmm, I would take it back to CPW again and kick up a stink and get them to send it back to SE again or ask for a replacement. If it's an intermittent problem then 5 minutes of fiddling by an engineer may not reproduce the issue.

You have done what you can at home by running the repair and if that doesn't solve it then you need the professionals. The other thing you could try is contacting Sony Ericsson's repair centre in the UK direct bypassing CPW. The phone is still under warranty if you bought it within the EU and are still resident there plus you have your original purchase receipt.
