Help xbox 360 controller?

been looking around quite a bit and haven't found a good answer...

has anyone tried to connect a xbox 360 controller, to either a evo v (phone, stock), or an evo 3d (no service, wifi-only, stock gb, willing to 'upgrade')?

i've read quite a bit about wired working on various devices, but can't seem to confirm it for these evo's, and the same with using the wireless pc dongle

i don't have a wired controller to test with currently, but a wireless dongle -> usb otg cable -> evo (both) doesn't seem to do anything, if neither work for stock (would upgrading the evo 3d to ics help?), is there a custom rom for the evo 3d, that works?

thanks for the reply :)

guessing i bought the wrong cable then: Micro USB OTG to USB 2.0 Adapter - Newegg.com

but rather then waste money on a new cable, i spliced it, with a old motherboard usb cable, and a male usb end from a old card reader :p

and now after two days of work (s-off, hboot, recovery), i have the viper3d rom installed, with the Anthrax kernel, and i am now able to use a mouse, and and old interact usb controllers, but no response yet for the wireless xbox controller, though the dongle lights up, and stays lit,

guessing wired might work at this point (though the whole plan being not to have to buy a new controller just for this, lol)

so most of the way there :)

...i'm actually kinda jealous of how nice the evo 3d is now, compared the to evo v, but my phone is staying stock, lol

I'm really confused by how a powered OTG cable works. It looks like all it is is a female USB port, a male USB port, and a male micro USB port. Does it have an internal battery that you charge using the male USB port? Or do you have to have the male USB plugged into the wall anytime you want to use it? It seems like in that case it would be a huge pain to use an external controller.

One is is male that plugs into your charging port, the other is a female standard USB. The phone powers whatever's plugged into the other end.

(from what i've seen, may be different for others depending the cable used, and other things)

powered with a internal battery, no, plugged into the wall yes, in our case, while using it, it would be like plugging in any other console

one setup would be: instead of plugging in your charger directly to your phone, you plug it into the usb otg cable (powered, 3 headed) then the controller would plug into the full sized usb port, and the last one would plug into your phone (think miniature NES, with the screen on the console)

one thought is to maybe use an external usb battery pack: (like this) it would remove the need to plug it into a wall, making for the only possibly long cable being the controller's, and being able to use it where ever you want to (untested)

both of these setups would require a cable that looks like this:
