Xiaomi Mi 5 with Android Auto - not working

I have a new Jeep Compass with Android Auto. Works with other devices such as Samsung Galaxy, but does not recognize my xiaomi mi 5. The phone was just updated to latest UI (9 I think) just a couple weeks ago. When I plug in phone with cable (it's not a cable issue BTW) the Android auto symbol does show up on the car's screen but when you tap 8t nothing happens (what should happen is that the screen mirrors the Android app on the phone, showing for example Google maps). Help?

Same prob here, just in my case android auto starts and i can see the apps on car's device but it stops working after 5-10 mins and becomes irresponsive. So i have to disconnect.

I also have a Mi A1 phone and Android auto works like a charm with it. So looks like some of MiUI optimizations is creating an issue.

Did you find any solution ?
