Help Xperia Ice cream Sandwich frustration

budyll

Lurker
Hello everyone :D
That's my first post on Android forums. I will not write very big amount of text.
I became really frustrated by now. I bought my Xperia S on the 2nd of March. Though it's over 3 months since S was released it's still doesn't got an update to Ice Cream Sandwich.

I just don't get it. I've got 2 friends with Android phones. One of them has got some HTC phone released in December and he already had an update to Ice cream. Second friend get some model of Samsung in December and already too has got an Ice cream Sandwich.

What is the Sony problem in making an update for one of THEIR NEWEST PHONES?!
Why I still have to wait about 2-3 months to get this update? Still without any confirmation that it will even make to my phone.

I live in UK and I have given 250 pounds for this smartphone ( it's a lot of money).
I have given so much money to Sony for this phone ( and not only me) and they can't even show this little piece of gratitude in form of system update?

That's all that I wanted to write. Sony is very dissapointing.

Yeah and I heared "end of May" :-x. Sony is just ridiculous! Is there someone who can give longer answer regarding my post than the User above me?
What is the reason that Ice cream Sandwich is available since 2011 and phone released in 2012 doesn't get an update?!
All Nokia, Samsung and HTC phones released in last year and this year have Ice Cream from the beginning when you buy the phone.

I don't think anyone on this forum can provide the answers you seek. AFAIK, no Sony employees visit this forum. So we can only go on hearsay and any news that Sony choose to officially release (i.e. ICS will be in Q2). I just hope that it is taking a long time because Sony are making sure to get everything right before pushing it out.

The other question that I guess no one can answer is how long it will take operators to make their customisations and then push ICS out to branded phones, but that will probably push the updates well into Q3 I would think.

never have i seen a thread filled with too much estrogen.

lol!

Btw when you're talking about other phones bought in December already having ICS.
That is 3 months before you got yours, you've had your phone for 3 months, meaning it should be soon, maybe about june, like I said.

Yep official reply from Sony is by the end of June which is still Q2, but it may be a little earlier fingers crossed ;)

dont really post on here much but really need to get my ass in gear and do so,anyway just to let anyone know its not sony that are the ones that hold back for some people

until your network provider tests the update then they wont release it

i work for one of the big network providers and come across this issue quite alot

all you need to do is bear with it as any software eventually comes out if it is to be released for a specific handset

Or you could just debrand your phone and get it as soon as Sony release it.

After putting this off for ages (I never did root or debrand my X10), I eventually took the plunge the other week. Debranding was really easy to do and my phone is now better than it's ever been. Don't know what T-mobile do to the firmware, but before debranding, my phone was very buggy and I was beginning to regret getting it, but now using Sony's ICS, I'm very happy and don't care if any more updates come out for it or not (unless they make the battery last twice as long! :D).
