Help Xperia Play stuck in endless reboot. Can I back up files?

I need help recovering and restoring my phone.

Problem:
My Xperia Play R800x is stuck in a endless reboot cycle.

I was thinking about using either:
Update Service
or
Flashtool
to try and fix this.

Question:
1)Will either of those programs allow me to back-up the files of the phone
before fixing the problem?
2)If not, is there a program that will back up my files and programs first?
or
If those can't is there a program that can copy the entire file system
off the phone before using above programs.
or
recover the files after the fix.


The files on my phone are EXTREMELY important.

Any help will be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

P.S. I do not know if the phone is rooted

the extremely important files are inthe phone memory or on the sd card?
if on sd card... no worries... remove it, plug it in your sd card reader (with dedicated adapter) backup everything on it
format, re-insert and repair ut via Update service
as for contacts, they are linked with your gmail account, so no worries there either

The phone has some of the files that I need.
They will be associated with one of the apps on the
phone.
I need to be able to keep the files so that when I put
back the program I will be able to load those files in.
I forget the name of the app but it is one of the
meet and greet kind of things. Where you can exchange
messages and pictures.
I need the messages and the pictures in tack.

Any ideas?

Use flashtool. un-select wrote userdata. That'll preserve your apps.

deleting them.

Only way is if your bootloader is unlocked, you can hot boot a kernel with a recovery built in & nandroid that.
