Help xperia Ray screen timeout problem

I am having this problem with my xperia Ray. the screen is off because the phone is locked and that's fine. however, at instances it keeps lighting on and off, like I am pressing the power button on top to help you understand what I mean.I do not like this,
1 it is not good and
2 I use my phone as an alarm for the morning and this one you cannot turn off and it switches on with the alarm like my Nokia used to, so it would do a night switching on and off.
Please note wifi is turned off, power save is on.

Anyone has a possible cause for this? I am thinkiung it is a software related problem, btw the software is saying that it is up to date when I try to update
 
I would advise running a repair which is done by running the update as normal but when it tells you that you have the latest version, hit the "Repair" option to reload the firmware.

Hi Sam, thanks for your input. I did (try)to run the update, unfortunately it does not allow me to update to 4.0 as my other thread explains, I reach the screen where it tells you: 'you have the latest software and applications from sony ericsson. your phone is up to date!" but I cannot see the repair button anywhere. If I press the menu (right)buttonat this stage refresh and settings pop up, settings containing settings for the automatic update
 
I got register after reading this topic and right after registering here i sent a PM to the OP inquiring whether he had solved this "screen" related problem or not coz my unit had developed exactly the same problem. So far "rod905" hasn't responded however i found the solution on the sonymobile's website.

Solution.
Just restore it to factory settings.

Cause
The problem was caused by a third party application. Most probably either "easy task killer" OR " Advanced battery saver"
 
I have the same problem! I've tried the software to repair but the problem is here again. I have updated to the new Android version, used the above repair software but again the screen lights on:mad:
