xScope, a multitouch pinch zoom browser

1. Long click a link to open it in a new Tab.
2. Long click 'Home' icon on address bar.
3. Click the 'Tabs' icon on address bar. Go from there.

Thanks
great browser.
only question: if I have it set to hide the tab bar when only
one tab is open, then how do I open a new tab without going back
into settings and unchecking that option. unless I just don't see it,
there is no 'new window' or 'new tab' option.

thanks

Hi,
I am trying to use the app to download the mp3's of ESPN.com podcasts. I like your browser because it gives this option. You can either click play or download. When I download, it downloads it as I see in "My downloads". The mp3 is downloaded and it says 100% complete. When I click on the file to play it, the options given are: open, send, zip, rename, and delete". When I click open, "opening files is not supported in this version". I have the trial version, but I want to make sure that I can get this to work before I buy the full version. These files are mp3's. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The paid version will launch builtin mediaplayer to play your mp3 files. Thanks

I am actually planning to get android and trying to know all the applications that are important for android as, thanks for letting me know about this this bowser as, I have heard about this that it do support tab and download and it is for andriod 2.0 that is Droid nexus.

I just wanted to know more about its functionality.

Thanks

I don't know if this is a problem with other browsers, but when I'm downloading something I cannot switch to a different app or the download will disappear from the Downloads page. It will only finish if I keep xScope in the foreground until it is finished. Can this be fixed?

This is a good question.
Android system is designed to work with low memory devices. If the system needs more memory, it will start killing around. The apps that are in background are the most vulnerable. The download module is part of the xscope app. So when xscope is running on background (not visible), it is very possible that android will kill it anytime. If killed, all downloading tasks are aborted.
I will do some research to see if it is a good idea to make a service for downloading.

Still loving the browser. Again, great work! I tried going back to Dolphin for some functionality, but didn't last 5 minutes. Your usability is really so much better.

One thing which would be nice for downloads would be an option to rename instead of overwrite if filenames match. For example, if I download sample.mp3 from two different sites, the first one is over-written. It would be great if I could set the behaviour to instead rename the file (eg to whichever number is next appended to the filename with a dash or something, like sample-1.mp3, sample-2.mp3 and so on.) Lots of browsers work this way, so I don't think people would find it surprising.

If anyone is finding the overwriting files with the same name on download behaviour a problem for them, I've got a way to deal with it for now. It's an ASE (Android Scripting Environment: android-scripting - Project Hosting on Google Code) perl script I've written which checks the xScope download folder every 15 or so seconds and moves everything in it into a different folder (/sdcard/xScope/saved), renaming files with name conflicts.

It's not perfect: It could possibly try to move a file mid-download (not sure what would happen); also, because ASE is still a bit buggy, it sometimes doesn't run well, or only works every few minutes (especially if you have a lot of things running). I make no promises, but it's solving my problem.

If you're interested in using the script yourself, pm me and I'll send them to you.

Rophuine,

Thanks for the temp solution! We will come up with something to solve this problem.

Xscope,

Did you change something that causes pages to snap back when you try to zoom in? I've got that problem now which I didnt have before.

Is there a new setting I need to change?

Thanks!

Nothing on the layout part has been changed. Some websites have javascript code to ensure their contents are always span across screen.

Hmmm, weird. It didn't used to do this on the page that is my concern, just recently (last few days). Is there any way to disable this?

You still have the best browser by far!

Nm, working now. Seems I just had to hold the zoom in position for a few seconds for it to stick, after a few times it zooms and sticks fine.

I recently received a replacement phone and have everything reinstalled. When I try to import my bookmarks (retrieve global), I get a FC every time. This is the latest browser to my knowledge. Does anyone else get this error? I have reinstalled and tried the previous version from backup and still same fault? thanks

Run stock browser once at least. And see if there is any bookmarks there.

Uh oh .... That baby was first to go on the replacement ... figured who needs it when ya have XScope :) ... Guess I'll try and find a copy somewhere, hoping don't have to reset ...

thanks

hello,
when I click and hold a link, it opens that link in a new background tab.
is there a way to have the new tab automatically open in the foreground.
if not, can I suggest that for a future update.

thanks.

what is the difference between the free one and the paid one, i couldn't find anything here. and the info on the market doesn't really make sense to me.

Hi, do not think xScope is compatible with Froyo.. I upgraded to Froyo and xScope no longer appears in Market, I am still able to load it however.

First problem I have noticed under Froyo is that the browser tabs no longer work. If I open a link in a new tab, I can see the tab however I am unable to click it, I can however swipe left/right to access the tab.

If I notice anything else I'll post it here. If you need to me test anything let me know.
