I thought I was rooted but it became clear I wasn't. I was only partially rooted. Couldn't open safestrap.
I was trying to flash cyanogenmod 9 (Hash of Codes). But it's all a non-starter until I get my IMEI unblocked or 'No UIM Card' or whatever it is that stopped my phone working & lost my contacts.
I was perfectly rooted by using the one-click root and then using bionic bootstrapper with ClockwordMod installed, yes I know they say use SafeStrap but CWM seems to work fine. Then flashing rom worked perfectly.

SafeStrap is recommended because a bad .zip flash will not result in a brick that must be SBF'd. All you do is reboot and reflash a different .zip or switch to your stock system. I was wary to switch from tried and true CWM, but after learning the workings of SafeStrap, I wonder why I ever hesitated. I haven't bricked myself in months and I have flashed tons of crap in that time frame, many which bricked my 2nd system.
