Help xt926 charging issue

When the phone runs down and I connect the charger the red light keeps blinking and the device continues to discharge until it is dead and shuts off. Once off, the green light comes on and it charges enough to turn on. Then the cycle repeats.
Anybody ever see this issue? Likely cause? Bad battery?

Are you using the charger and cable that came with the phone plugged into a wall socket?

Factory Reset.

I performed a factory reset. It did not change the issue.

Take it back/exchange it then.
