Yahoo Mail won't sync contacts

There was a version update on 3/14. IIRC, the new release was 3.0.23.

Yesterday, on 3/15, my contact list was totally unavailable on my phone. Within the app, you could compose an email but it wouldn't recognize a contact name to assign an email address. You had to manually enter the email address, not the contact name.

It also wouldn't sync contacts to the phone contact list, even after going into the app's settings and turning sync off and on several times.

I even uninstalled and reinstalled. No help.

So, I dug around on the web and found a site with the preceding version, 3.0.20. Installed it, but no change. So now I was wondering had the 3/14 install changed some setting on the Android system which was now precluding sync. Or, was there something going on at the Yahoo server and the contacts weren't getting pushed to the phone.

Now today, within the app, it recognizes Yahoo contacts. I can compose an email, start typing the contact name, and it pops the list to choose from. But, it still doesn't sync to the phone's contact list.

I'm on Verizon with a Galaxy S4 Mini running 4.3.

Ideas?

Yahoo has been playing with their email system for a couple of years, and every once in a while they break something. Give them a day or two to fix it.

Yeah, I've had similar experiences in the past. A few months back, push quit working. That was less of a problem for me, because I keep notifications turned off. I get too much email to have my phone bonging every time one comes in.

This is/was a big hassle, because it turns the app into an email reader. I've got to be able to compose and send new emails from the phone.

Oh and by the way, I was wrong about it recognizing contacts within the app. None there either. Still won't sync. No Yahoo contacts on the phone at all.
