yakjuzs galaxy nexus jelly bean

sheikhoo

Lurker
I have an international GSM version of galaxy nexus , yakjuzs version. I am currently running ICS 4.0.4 on my device and would like to update it to jelly bean with the device unrooted. I have checked updates using My own phone but none appear. Help needed please.

The link is for the conversion of yakjuxw and not yakjuzs so will it work on my phone? Secondly if I follow the procedure I end up rooting my phone so is there anyway to avoid it and get stock jelly bean. Lastly what does flashing mean? Sorry for the newb question but thanks for the help

I am fairly sure it will work - what you are coming from shouldn't matter. And this does not root your phone - it just gives it a different firmware. In other words, once this is done, you will have stock Jelly Bean, you will receive OTA updates directly from Google, but you will not be rooted.

"Flashing" is, as far as I know, just an expression used for "updating" firmware - perhaps because firmware is stored on flash ROM? I'm just guessing here, so anybody, feel free to jump in and rescue me:smokingsomb:
