Yep.... I'm new..

Sup? My name is Christian and I'm rocking the sammy mesmerize, Love it so far. I used to have the acclaim and I hated it with a burning passion after I realized how much it sucked. I'm pretty comfortable with android os but have a dilemma... I cannot for the life of me figure out how to separate my notification/ringtones from my music. On my sd card I put them in the media folder under notifications. My music files are in the music folder (clever right?) but they both show up in my music player which is REALLY IRRITATING.. I was wondering what I have to do/ if there is any way to remove the notification/ringtones from the media player. I did it on my acclaim but I can't seem to do it on my mesmerize. any help is much appreciated.

Welcome to the Android Forums!

In the notifications folder create a file called ".nomedia". This should exclude these files from your media player. Make sure, however, that your phone knows that they are notifications before creating the file. Otherwise the phone might not be able to locate them either...

Okay, so I've been toying with this and know how to make the ".nomedia" file, but when I do that ringtones don't show up on the notification/ringtone list. I looked around for a bit on the interwebz and came up with making a folder called "ringtones". That worked wonderfully until I looked in my media player and they poped up in there. This is all very frustrating. I was wondering if there is a way to fix this?
