Help Yet another battery drainage question...

Hi ppl,

There're numerous threads our there addressing battery problems, but I couldn't find an answer to my exact scenario, so I'm posting here, hope to get some ideas on a fix...

I bought a brand new Galaxy 4s Mini

I experienced battery problem: it takes about 20 hours for the battery to drop from 100% to about 30%
Then from 30% it drops to 0% and phone shuts down, in a matter of minutes.
(EDIT: actually it seems like it doesnt even get chance to drop to 0, it shuts down at about 20%)

I deactivated all unnecessary activities (wifi, gps etc), didn't help.

Then I went back to the store, and they had the phone replaced with a new one.

Still same behavior.

Ideas anyone?

Tnx

What do you see is using power when you go to: Settings > Battery?
Nothing out of the ordinary

I'm also attaching screenshot of the battery usage stats.

And here's the enlarged graph,

The point marked with the red arrow is where the phone shut down (without ever reaching 0).

Your cell standby is very high. This should not happen except maybe when the phone is doing nothing at all since the last charge (which resets battery stats) except sitting on it's butt. Even then, cell standby may not be at the top of the power usage list.

High cell standby is usually caused by the phone having a weak or nonexistent signal. The phone keeps searching for a signal strong enough to lock onto, which uses quite a bit of power.

Check if you have a decent signal where you've been leaving the phone during the time covered in the shots you sent. If not, see if you can find a spot with a better signal and if so try leaving the phone there and if the power drain is significantly improved.

It's normal for the phone to shutdown before the battery reaches 0%. It's very hard on battery life to completely drain them, so the phone is programmed to shutdown to preserve the battery, usually at about 5%.

First of all, during the time covered by the screenshot I almost didn't use the phone at all. So maybe it make sense that cell standby is on top of the list.

The signal here is fine, I don't think it caused the drop.

The thing is, it shuts down at above 20% (not 5%)

Sounds like you might need to re-calibrate your battery. Check out Battery Calibration Pro from Google Play Store. Very simple to use and this fixed my problem even though I had a different phone.
