:) Yet another forum...

Hi all.

I'm a computer engineer, only recently developed an interest in smartphones and tablets.

My first smartphone was (is) an HTC Wildfire S. Not bad, but a bit sluggish and very limited in memory. So I've now managed to acquire a Huawei G300, which should hopefully get round most of the problems I was having with the HTC.

This type of forum has always provided me with advice and help when I need it, so I'm hoping to get a few answers and learn a lot here.

:D Thanks. Off to a good start....

One of my reasons for coming today was that I had all sorts of problems with moving contacts from the old (HTC) phone to the new (Huawei). When I configured the new phone, it imported contacts from my gmail account (and my calendar as well). The calendar entries were fine, but I can't say the same about my contacts list. Probably 30% were missing completely, and quite a few of the others were incomplete (numbers or email addresses missing).

I've been using Lookout to check and back up the HTC, so I thought I could use its backups to restore the missing contact. Not so far...

Anyway, started to enter a HELP! message here, and was prompted with similar topics. Second one I read gave me the answer - export contacts from the old phone to the SD card, copy the export to the SD card in the new phone and then import. Worked fine, though I'm now going to have to go through and remove a fair few duplicates.

So, a really good start. I'm hoping to pick up lots of other information as well - the new phone is rooted and has been upgraded to ICS, so I've lots and lots to learn....

Paul.
