Help Yet another Kies problem

First off, I've spent the past 2 hours trying to get Kies to recognize my phone. I've tried as many things as I could, but no luck. After I plug in the phone, Kies will pop up a message saying: "Reconnect the device in Kies (PC Studio) Mode. Current connection mode not supported by Kies." I'm about to throw it out the window. I've installed the drivers, uninstalled, reinstalled, rebooted, etc. Anyone have a clue what else I can try? Btw, my phone is the first Galaxy S, not the S2. Thanks.
