Root You knew someone would ask: rooting under L?

Someone had to be the first to ask:

So I upgraded to L yesterday and lost root. Then was annoyed with myself for not having considered that possibility ahead of time (though I was at least smart enough to do a full backup with Titanium and save it -off the device-).

Figuring it probably wouldn't work I tried using the Nexus toolkit anyway. Annoyingly that appeared to work, but didn't.

So I'm back on CyanogenMod until there's a root option available, as, particularly given the phone/tablet shenanigans I've gone through in the past week, I want a good backup in place at all times, and Titanium's only disappointed me once.

Anyway, it seems reasonable to have a thread discussing options for rooting under L. So, here we are!

There was a change needed in the install script which was preventing root from properly working.

Here is an optimized, twrp flashable version of android L. Get the one that says "flo, breadcrumbs and bunnies" in the title. Make sure to wipe data and format system before flash, and of course wipe cache and dalvik after flash
