You think companies will price match?

I am seeing $179 in a few places and Best Buy, where I preordered, is still at $199. You think they will price match?

Best buy does price match, but the item needs to be in stock in the store where they are price matching. they will not price match online items from say amazon or buy.com, i tried when i was buying my last tv. RS i believe does not price match at all

Usually one of the prerequisites for price matching is that the other retailer have the item in stock... so with a product as heavily anticipated as the Evo 3D, a price match is an uphill battle.

Good points! However, opening day it should be in stock. Well, I hope. Also, all the places advertising are online, except for Wal-Mart, I think.

Good call. I've also heard that while BB's official policy isn't to match any online prices, there have been many instances where people in the store will in fact match a price. If it's only a difference of $20 ($199 vs $179), I honestly don't see them making a huge stink about it. I got them to drop the price of the Evo 4G from $199 to $185 (matching RS online offer) and I didn't have to try very hard.

So you should try, worst case is they'll say no. I just don't see them making a huge deal out of $20, and they may just give it to you anyway in an effort to make you a happy customer.

Please post actual experiences here in regards to RS, BB, Walmart, etc and whether they do match another price, as well as what price anyone is able to get it for!

I found the following on BestBuy's site. It sounds like they only price match with retailers in your Local Market or themselves (i.e. you see a lower price at BestBuy.com than in Best Buy brick and mortar)

Best Buy in Store Policy:
Best Buy Retail Store Price Match Guarantee
If you find a lower advertised price on the same available brand and model prior to your purchase or during the exchange and return period, we will match that price. Simply bring in the ad of the local retail competitor or Best Buy, while the lower price is in effect and receive your price match.

The guarantee does not apply to our competitors' website pricing and the guarantee does not apply to our or our competitors':

Offers that include financing, bundling of items, free items, pricing errors, online-only pricing and offers, and mail-in offers.
Items that are limited-quantity, out of stock, open-box, clearance, Outlet Center, refurbished/used items and items for sale Thanksgiving Day through the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

BestBuy.com Policy:
f you find a lower price on BestBuy.com or in a Best Buy Retail Store for the same brand and model during the exchange and return period, we will match that price. For purchases made on BestBuy.com, we will not match our competitors' store or website prices.

Please call 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289) for all BestBuy.com Price Match Guarantee transactions.

The BestBuy.com Price Match Guarantee does not apply to Best Buy Retail stores or BestBuy.com for:

Items that are limited-quantity, out of stock, open-box, clearance, Outlet Center, refurbished/used, and items for sale Thanksgiving day through the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

I can't find anything on Radioshack price matching.

As launch day gets closer, I thought it might be helpful to have a running list of the cheapest advertised price for the 3vo so everyone can easily find out who has the best deal.

While I started this specifically looking for the On-Contract (Subsidized) price offers in mind, obviously it wouldn't hurt to post both prices (Subsidized and Unsubsidized).

Please post the best price you've found available on the 3vo, this should help everyone easily find the best price that can be used for price matching or just deciding who to buy from.

Thanks! :D

Now I'm not 100%, but I feel like I went to Best Buy with a printout of a website's item and they price matched it anyway. It was only like, $10, but it still went against their policy. Again, I'm not sure, but I think I did.

Yeah I am sure they do some price matching at the Manager's discretion.

Thanks for this info.

One thing to keep in mind is that your results may vary by store. While this is their official policy, Mobile managers at each BB location have the power to authorize a lower price, and it's their discretion. This policy will help guide them, and they'll use it in an effort to not have to price match a huge discount.

For example, if someone was selling the 3vo for half price ($100), then BB obviously will not want to match that price because they would likely be losing money. They have their official price match policy to fall back on in that case.

However if someone else is selling it for $10 or $20 cheaper, BB will likely still be making money off that, and they aren't likely to make a huge deal out of knocking $20 off a $200 device.

So I think anyone who is buying their device at BB, when you go in to pick it up try to get them to match any lower price you've found, worst they can say is no. But realize you may have better results getting them to knock $20 off the phone, then you may have with getting them to knock say $50 or $100 off. So I think the amount of the discount you're shooting for will have an effect on how willing they are to match that price.

As I said, when I bought the Evo4G RS had an online price of $185 (not valid in store, had to buy online), and I got BB to match this price with no effort, I just asked if they'd match and they said ok. If I was looking for a much larger discount, then they'd obviously be hesitant as they don't want to sell it for a loss.
