I have a rooted Incredible running Ruby, a vanilla Froyo ROM (Yeah, I need to update, but haven't gotten around to it yet).
I am having problems with my GPS crapping out and Google maps displaying the message 'Your current location is temporarily unavailable'. I also tried a GPS Test app and verified that it wasn't working there either. I even tried it while out of town once, just to make sure it wasn't my location.
I discovered by accident that I can resolve the issue by backing up the ROM in Rom Manager and then restoring that backup. After that, the GPS works for awhile and then stops working again, until I repeat the process. When it works, it works well... even indoors. When it doesn't work, it doesn't work anywhere.
I'm not sure how/when/why it stops working, but something about the backup/restore process (wiping the cache maybe?) fixes it. I'd like to find a way to resolve this issue without having to go through this restore process. Or better yet, figure out how to prevent the GPS from breaking at all.
Any ideas?
FYI: In case anybody is tempted to ask, yes... GPS is turned on.
