Apps "Your project contains error(s)" running hello world demo

I am trying to get android running on ubuntu 8.10. I have installed the android sdk, eclipse, and followed the sticky on this site to connect the two.
Everything went fine, no error messages, until I ran the code.
Then I get this in a popup dialog.

Your project contains error(s), please fix them before running your application

The title of the popup dialog is "Android Launch".

I know this isn't much to go on, but this is all I am getting. I get nothing in the console at the bottom of eclipse either.

You should have show correctly the position of your android sdk folder from the window -> preferences -> android. Also you should have place the folder somewhere under your C drive.( Like C:\android\android_sdk ) before you show the place.

Project > Clean
This worked for me when getting that unhelpful error in Eclipse, no data in the Console, and only the error icon at the top of the project tree only.

Yep project clean works for me as well on errors like that. Anything that doesnt point to a specific line error but keeps you from launching then project > clean is the way to go.

This may be a dead thread but I'm going to try my luck anyway...

I have the above mentioned problem and it's driving me nuts! I've done the clean-project-thing, I've reinstalled Android SDK, JDK and Eclipse, I've created new projects, removed old projects and re-opened them and nothing seem to work!
The old projects still seem to work, possibly because they haven't been re-compiled, but anything new and all I get is "Your project contains errors..."
If I remove the R.java file and then do a clean-project without re-build, the error disappears. Much help that is, since I can't run the app without the R.java-file...
Any input or help would be much appriciated!!

You may want to close eclipse and delete your .android folder

On Windows 7 it's the folder C:\Users\(username)\.android

Then launch Eclipse again and it will re-create the file.

Other than that it's hard to say.

This works! Thanks, as a side note I had quite a while without logging into the Linux installation from which I was running this eclipse so maybe that had something to do with it.
