Help Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network

Lurker
I have unlocked the phone and use a Three sim card but I want to switch to use Orange network. I get this error message when i select Orange from the list of available networks. The SIM worked fine on my other phone on the orange network. Anyone else have this issue?

Dont get why you would have a Three sim when you want to use Orange. Didn't even know that was possible. Why not just use an Orange sim ??

Shouldn't it just 'piggy-back' on the Orange network ??

Indeed it should if you lose the Three networks 3G signal.

I have unlocked the phone and use a Three sim card but I want to switch to use Orange network.

To force the handset onto orange 2G....
Menu>settings>Wireless & networks>Mobile networks>Network Mode
..select 'GSM only'

Note: Data roaming will also need to be checked to use data when roaming on orange 2G. (the option is located here.. Menu>settings>Wireless & networks>Mobile networks)

If your phone still wont roam onto orange 2G read this...

...you may be affected by it!

Hi, thanks for your replies. I have tried changing these settings but still get the same error message when i try and force the phone to use the orange network. The phone will not switch between networks like my old phone used to. Any further help would be much appreciated.

Can you put your sim back in your other phone and confirm roaming on orange still works?

Three are in the process of switching off orange roaming area by area, it may be a coincidence they have switched it off in your area around the same time you got your san francisco

Cheers

master_yoda you were spot on. Tried the sim in the old phone and no longer able to connect on Orange. Called customer service who confirmed this. Time to change provider i think. Thanks for the help.
