Yourdailywinner.com???????

[lburgguy]

I have been receiving notifications stating that I have won a prize and then I click on the notification and it opens my browser to a page: yourdailywinner.com. It is made to look like a Walmart webpage/contest but the wording is awkward and appears to be bogus.

I have also been getting notifications that I have a new Facebook message but when I click it I get a blank screen. I go to Facebook and there is no new message.

It seems to me these two highly unusual occurrences must be related to an app or a virus. Does anyone have any ideas???

TIA!

Sounds like you installed an app that uses "Airpush" or "Leaedbolt" advertising. These put periodic ads in your notification bar, even when the app isn't running. Try searching this site for either of those terms for more info on how to track down which app is using them. (If I run across the relevent threads, I'll come back and post 'em.)

Thanks! I'll be looking as well. I really appreciate your tip.

Here's one thread discussing these evil ads...

Thanks again! I'm now reading about this on the thread you mentioned. Looking into removing the offending app or installing an ad blocker.
